NaOH question

I fuck it up. KARABIT is CaC2. Not NaOH. NaOH is basic lye. For construction. Concrete is mixed with it, outer house paint, wall painting-whitening, facade and such. Very easily to obtain, 2-4€ 50kilos. KARABIT is something else and acetylene is gas which blows up in loud bang.

haha, i knew that was what you were talking about. acetylene gas. when i was young and cruel i killed rabbits with it by putting it down their holes and lighting it. its used to measure moisture content in materials such as concrete.concrete blocks are sealed in a box with a known weight of carbide. moisture from the concrete reacts with the carbide and the water content of the concrete can be calculated from the change in weight of the carbide. much fun and a versatile material :thumbsup:
