Well i dont think pot plants give off heat.. But they are usually grown in a controlled (warmer) environment.. And the amount of electricity used for controlling is also above average, which can be detected. With one or two plants, your not on the list for infrared inspection.

In trying these different methods, did you get the cacti from the same source (or even better, same cactus)? Because some can be more potent than others, so you would have to try all of the methods a couple of times to be able to tell something about the method of preparation.

My friend had some cuttings as well which started dying as soon as he took off the transparent cap. When he put it on again it totally revived again. I suggest leaving it on and making holes in it for a gradual change, if you encounter this problem again.

Well to me all the species look quite the same.. There are a lot of different descriptions of the different lophs and i'm not sure which is right.. The main difference between williamsi and diffusa is supposed to be primarily the flower color, and also the ribs. Mine is a still a little bit...

Ok here come the pictures (same cactus). They were sold as williamsi btw, by a specialized cactus seller. At that time you told me it could be about 15 years old, but it has been grafted and then replanted. Which i think is correct.
