People get addicted to chili peppers
as anyone read this?

he Chile Pepper Counterculture
-------------------------------
(by Robb Walsh)

Endorphins, those natural drugs that are 100 to 1,000 times more
powerful than morphene, are released into our brain when we eat hot
chile petters, according to a New Mexico University scientist. Like
other psychotropics, including peyote, coca and tabacco, chile peppers
alter our state of consciousness. In the case of chile peppers the
high is non-hallucinogenic, but it is addictive. Experimental
psychologist Frank Etscorn of the New Mexico Institute of Mining and
Technology told the New Mexico Chile Conference that chile addicts are
hooked on endorphins. "We get slightly strung out, but it's no big
deal," he says.

Getting a runner's high without the running may be a bigger deal than
Etscorn imagines. It also explains a lot about the perverse
psychology of chile-pepper lovers. Eating more chile peppers produces
more pain, more pain produces more endorphis. Maintaining a steady
burn has been called "mouth surfing" by many observers of the emerging
chile pepper counterculture. The endorphins and physical sensations
that flood the brain when a chile addict bites into a pepper suddenly
interrupt the thought processes and overwhelm the senses. This
phenomenon has been described by doctors as a "rush." According to
Dr. Weil, a physician quoted by Austin chile expert Jean Andrews,
chile junkies "glide along on the strong stimulation, experiencing it
as something between pleasure and pain that ... brings on a high state
of consciousuness."

when i was 14, i snorted curry and pepper. it hurt. maybe when i'm 14 again i will snort a line of chilli peppers! and after that, i'll snort some beans, and some beef. hell, it is better to cook the chilli, boil until we get chilli-powder, and have a big line of it.

I used to do the same, putting all the kitchen spices together, making lines and daring a friend to snort what I called the "indie coke"...

I'm already abusing my bottle of tabasco : I'm totally addicted to that stuff, :D

It's not dangerous for your nerves no, but it definitely isn't good for you stomach. I'll stick to the "normal" drugs if I am allowed to call them that way.
Anyway, if you want to try something cool, put a few drops of tabasco in your eye. Pretty intense and nothing will help get rid of the pain =) Been there, done that, unfortunately. But hey, you gotta try everything once, like you say when you are young..

Too bad I'll (maybe) get an ulcer but I like tabasco so much ; I can use it with almost everything...
For the few of us who don't have the tiniest bit of irony : I was kidding about planning to snort chili pepper or tabasco and for christ sake I'll never put the stuff in my eye :
before  then:  after 8) (forever...)

It's kind of funny to see how many things our body can get addicted to, hu?
shall we write a list of things we're hooked on?
i think it can get very long

Isn't addiction just in the head?

nope :)
someone who is addicted to something can either be psychologically addicted or physically addicted.
in the case of drugs that cause a release or mimic endorphines it is likely to fall in a physical addiction . your body increases the threshold of natural endorphines release thus you feel the need to have an endorphine "booster" therefore you use the drug to feel good otherwhise you wouldn't be able to do it by yourself.
so it's your body that requires the drug use not your mind.
in the case of psychoactive drugs such as lsd or salvia, MJ as well, it is likely to fall in a psychological addiction (all in your mind) rather than a physical. this is becaus the centers of pleasure aren't directly touched by the substance. so it is not your body who likes the substance but rather your mind because of many different reasons that would take a really long post.

this is very simply put (too simply i think) so i recommend to research a bit more on addiction.

No, and i won't try speed or coke either..

And you might got a point there.
But still i think the most off it is in the head..

if you look at it from that point, everything is in the head, even hunger and thirst. that's a very detached feeling you got, i like that!

My godfather smokes heavy tobacco for 30 years now and every time i see him, he starts complaining about his habbit.
He once tried to quit by hypnoses. But the hypnotic guy told him: you have to get ridd off all the tobacco in your house.
He left just a little bitt in his nightcloset.
And got hooked after a month again.

I believe it's bullshit, also with heroine.
