Why do we have this intelligence?

I can't really answer it.
I like to think that there is a reason behind it....but that doesnt have to be.

Is there a reason behind it?
If yes, what?
Aliens that planted us here for some reason?
God just created us to end up miserable destroying everything?
(Then God says: HAHA You shud have learned that lesson, my super old morals shud have worked for everybody in the world. Athiests will go to hell...etc...)

Or maybe there isnt any reason?
Just fighting for survival and all that nonsense, then randomly became more intelligent than everything on this planet....

Its just weird thinking about it, it just seems strange that our race just went much faster than others.
And just dominated everything, and is still evolving towards what?

Why are we smarter, or atleast think we are?
Wy are we dominant? and most evolved mentallY?

Makes no sense really.
Something says wrong to me each time i get an answer....

I don't think evolution can have a 'destination' at all seeing as how it's an ongoing process.

As for direction.. sure I guess it does but it doesn't seem to follow a straight or predictable path or pattern that I'm aware of. It's a curvy and twisty path that is only revealed after it happens.

It's like being at the edge of the expansion of the universe and wondering what's on the other side. It's a nice question, but you can't find out until the universe expands into that space.

Sometimes the thought that we stick out bothers me, nature seems so carefully evolved.

I answered that question many times over... of course it has a destination, and it's predictable and sensible.

The symbiotic mushroom species live inside us, they are billions of years old and evolved the most effiscient non-verbal intelligence in existance (and I'm not even talking about some of its scientifically astounding prowesses) it's nothing mystical !

Well tonight i dreamed about a comet that was falling out the sky, so i dunno what our destination exactly would be. But in that the dream i was standing in my living room, someone who was upstairs looked out the windows and screamed to me that something HUGE was going to happen. Then i looked trough the window into the sky, tough i couldn't see the comet, the sky turned as black as hell. I fell down at the ground and thought: WTF, am i born to be smashed by comet

The weird thing is, that i don't believe in a destructive end. But lately there are so many people talking about 2012 and such stuff, that this seems to be the reason why i dream such things. I mean, it wasn't the first time. I remember a dream which occured a half year ago, i where standing somewhere in nature. It was a dark night, and then suddenly a planet came closer and closer. But it didn't hit the earth, but if i would have been a little taller, i could have jumped on the planet. Again, while this happens everyone was screaming but when they saw that the planet didn't hit the earth and was dissapearing again, everyone was relieved and we lived long and happy life

I answered that question many times over... of course it has a destination, and it's predictable and sensible.

You did, but so many people did. Some of those people where talking shit, others did have more logical explanations. But there are so many possibility's, that it gets hard to answer the question. Let alone to trust one of those explanations told by the many people that tried to answer that particularly question.

I don't think we'll ever have an answer to all our why's, at least not in physical life, so what use is it to pose these questions?
How come we want to know so bad?

Another thing: we are in search of cosmic secrets, could they ever be conveyed through our system of language and logic? Maybe our language and logic fall short when trying to answer these questions.

What if we knew our purpose, and why this and why that, would we be more satisfied with life? Is a game more fun to play when you know beforehand if you'll win or lose?

Of course your right about that, but on the other side you can also be inspirated if the answer did satisfy you. If i would start to build a house and knew for sure that it's finished in only one year, i would say oke. Let's start building it! But if i really don't know how long it takes to finish it and that there is even a chance that i never will.... Then i would get doubts if i would even start to build a house.

Anyway, I don't think that any answer to any of these questions is going to make life easier to swallow... And about the 'knowing beforehand' thing, yes it's is definately more comfortable to know when your house will be finished and it will help getting you started on building it. Nevertheless there is no guarantee that it won't collapse the day after you build it. I guess we just have to deal with uncertainties in this lifetime.

Besides, if you could see into the future and see what your life will bring for you, would it still be fun to live that life? because you've technically already experienced it then.

This compulsive desire to know everything has tainted the human experience, we would be better off learning to be at peace with the fact that we don't know what is to come.

Mankind didn't destroy everything yet. And regarding the damage that did occur during its epigenetic development, it may have been worth it. My guess is it's a process that repeats itself on every inhabitable planet, and there is this self-regulating principle built into existence (for example psychedelic plants and the discovery of LSD, and the general idea that given the proper system of data storage, sharing & synthesis, mankind can and will learn from its mistakes) that eventually helps prevent a total disaster, and turns things around just in time.
