Hi,
with the beginning of a new year comes the tradition of making a list of good intentions. /forum/images/graemlins/alc.gif
This year my list only contains one item: to quit smoking. So, being a cyber-generation kid I started looking on the internet for sites with good, natural methods to quit smoking. Of course, the internet is the marketeers playground, so all I found was 1001 crappy products that don't work, not only because they actually don't, but also because I don't believe in them.
My question is: does anyone know a good site with good, healthy tips and information? I'm not a heavy smoker and I'm looking for natural methods to make the process of quitting easier (I tried cold turkey, it doesn't work).

if you wanna stop , just stop , that s the most natural way to do it , if you really want to stop it will be easy

http://www.stoppenmetroken.nl/

This site is in Dutch, but since you are living in Gent you should be able to read it.

But, I agree with drganj, if you want to quit, just do so !!

Are you trying to quit smoking weed or cigarettes?
Weed is easy, there are no addictive properties. The hardest part is the first 2 weeks. If you can make it 2 weeks with no weed then the rest is simple..

Cigarettes on the other hand is like heroin. Extremly addictive.. My father managed to quit smoking in 2 weeks(he's a 40 year smoker) with a product called "Smoke Away"... I'm not sure where to buy it. Just do a google search. It has a picture of an eagle on the front of the box.

I can't agree with you Ace...
Mayby weed smoking isn't addictive, but it's a habbit.
Almost all the people i know of my age are smoking ganja on a daily base, and more than 1 joint (that includes me).
The habbit is very hard to lose ,in my opinion and others in my city.
I have less problem to quit smoking cigarettes, sometimes i smoke 4 months and than quit for 3 months (i smoke about 6 of the 12 months).

I don´t quite agree, because if you really want to quit you quit.I´m a cigarrete, weed and hash smoker for about almost 10 years, and many are the times when i feel i need to stop,(for my poor lungs sake)and i just stop, for a hole month if it´s needed. The addiction is in your head,if you really wan't to stop you stop, treatments are useless, use the power of your mind.

Smoke away can be found at www.eurotv.nl It costs about 70 €.

I agree with ACE! If u want and u need to stop smoking u just do it! /forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I've also stoped smoking for two times now. The first time, I stoped for 4 years, and then started again, for 2 years, and then stoped again, for almost 3 years. Now I've started smoking again 2 years ago and if I WANT, I can stop. I think it's all about power of will. If you want to stop, you will stop. In my opinion, no other way is so fail-proof than this one.
I also smoke hash on a daily basis, and I could stop as well, if I wanted it... but the fact is that I dont, eheheh
I like it /forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well,
thank you all for your advice /forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif I wasn't really looking for a product to help me quit smoking, but I did try the link marc gave me. It has a stop-coach that sends some good advice every day, which is helpful, but it also proves my hypothesis that the internet is the marketeers playground. On day 3 the stop-coach gave me the advise to buy some Nicorette chewing gum /forum/images/graemlins/icon_head222.gif
Other than that, the stop-coach is exactly what I was looking for. I was just looking for some mental support to get me through the first two weeks. I'm on day 3 now and although I'm a little bit grumpy, everything's just going fine.

Oh, and Lytheon. It's easy to quit smoking cigarettes if you keep smoking weed mixed with tobacco. Since you keep the smoke in your lungs for a longer period of time [when smoking a joint] and since you inhale deeper, nicotine absorption is more effective. Cannabis also makes your liver metabolize nicotine more slowly, so you stay happy. /forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif On the other hand, trying to quit smoking weed when you're used to mixing it with tobacco is more difficult then trying to quit when you're used to smoking your weed pure. It all has to do with the nicotine you see. Even if you quit smoking weed but keep smoking cigarettes it's hard. It's like smoking ultra lights when actually you're used to extra strong /forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hi there. Very interesting topic !

I had birthday last sunday (18.01). I tried about 1 week ago to finish smoking cigarettes, didnt work. So i placed myself an ultimatum: On SUNDAY, my BDAY i will stop smoking cigarettes.
Since Sunday i am without any cig. Well, 7 Days are not much, but the feeling of "need" is away. Sure i want to smoke a cigarette in some situations.
But its about to learn, is it useful or not ? What gives it to me ?
The answer is simple. Nothing. And the fact that i think 90% of the mankind get on without it just underlines this.
My greatest inspiration is: I have "no lust to have lust of it".
Hope this is understandable, f*cking english sometimes /forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif

So Far,

but in the statistics, 90% of the smokers really want to quit but they just can't. if we only knew what the tobaccoindustries are putting in the cigarettes to make them even more adictive, wow!

Don't forget the governement. They know smoking kills and people should be protected from themselves, but all they do is raise the prices. Their excuse? "People who get cancer from smoking are a cost to the state." That's absurd!! They're creating a market for illegal cheap tobacco.

Smokers should realise that they're the victims of politicians' and industrialists' greed. They get addicted, mostly because they want to conform to an image created by the tobacco industry. The tobacco industry then keeps them addicted... and then the governement AND the tobacco industrials cash in while the smoker, in all his ignorance, dies slowly.

Hi;
I just know something about tobaccos and want to share with you. If you open a cigarette and take a look at what contains, you will see some woodish things. If you burn them alone, again you will see tar-like something. Black and sticky. That's what f**kcs our lungs.

If you plan to quit smoking and can't try the natural tobaccos. In Turkey bazaars we can buy natural tobaccos. They come from villages. Village people prepare it and never put chemicals in it. And when you burn it you can see it turns to a gray ash. No black tars. Of course it has nicotine but it is not what f**ks lungs. It is the only thing that makes addict. Tar makes the harm.

If you can't stop just try natural tobacco. It is more cheaper (In Turkey :=) and gives less damage.

Aaaaaaah, in Turkey they have these really smooth and tasty fruity tobacco's you have to smoke with a nargilè. I have some at home which I bought in Turkey last summer and it's soooooo good. /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

it's really not that difficult, u just stop smoking tobacco and when u feel "bad" or whatever u wanna cal it ( in need for nicotine ) u smoke a spliff , BUT a pure pot spliff ! dont add tobacco !!! it's poison - this will defintely work - and it will help u tru the first weeks , soon u ll realize that u dont need tobacco at all , in fact u ll probably get very sensitive to tobacco smoke and detest it. i hear u think : " but than i ll become a weed addict and smoke all day ??" bullshit , u shouldnt smoke all day , in fact it's best to use a pipe (better to dose ) and i m only suggestin to smoke everyday in the beginning of the quiting tobacco period, once u hate the the tobacco it ll be ez to cut back on ur weed habits and u ll be able to smoke weed only when u intend to do so ,normaly not every day ( unless u need it to escape from reality or things like that offcourse )

Well, that's what I tried the first 3 days after I quit smoking tobacco and it does indeed help. After 3 days I didn't need the weed anymore and it has been a month since I've smoked anything at all.

Smoking weed to help quit smoking tobacco, never thought of that way /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Cannabis is great, isnt it?
We can do almost everything with it...
