OK, I listened to the entire lecture. Nothing new there, I had heard about the dopamine cycle before, and have also experimented with karezza.

Her suggestion to abstain from orgasm is based on a theoretical model of return to equilibrium. She admits that there is no scientific evidence for the two week graph she shows as one of the slides, yet the rest of the video is based on it. What if return to equilibrium takes some people only two days, or two hours?

Are there ways to speed up the process, or ways one can delay it? She doesn't answer any of these questions, but rather suggests we all abstain from having orgasms.

I think she's being unrealistic. The thing with karezza is that to most people it's kinda boring. Nice to do once in a while, or even regularly, but not as a replacement of having wild fun. "It's alright to have a good time. That's one of the most important messages of enlightenment." (Thaddeus Golas) What's the use of having a relationship if you can't have memorable experiences together?

What I like about the video is the emphasis on acts that are conducive to pair bonding, such as gentle touch and practices like karezza.

Brugmansia a dit:
What does it do? Not to you in particular. But how does it affect the society? Or is there no affection at all?
I think society is most significantly affected by what's on TV, because that's what we are all exposed to every day when we grow up. So "porn" in advertisements and music videos has much more impact on society than the "adult entertainment" people seek out later in their lives. And the type of entertainment one seeks out, the genre (for example sapphic, or BDSM, or bukkake), is based on ones personality and conditioning, not on the type of porn one happens to encounter. Watching porn doesn't turn anyone into a pervert. Young people will have to navigate through what's available nowadays though. With the arrival of Viagra, cheap digital cameras and the internet, the amount of porn has increased significantly, especially that of the less erotic and less artistic type.

I love porn, just when im lonely and to tired to use my imagination.....
Or it helps when u want to empty ur bag before meeting a girl for blow job or what not....
The problem with porn, well..
The problem here is stupidity.
People watch porn and see super stereotypical people acting like they are having the best sex of thier life (So we can feel entertained).
But that makes people who dont have an ego, feel like....
ahh shit....i'll never be as good.....
the last chick i fucked was ugly as fuck....

etc......
the avarage idiot will think in this circle and never fix his problems!
I guess......

or am i completely wrong?

Speaking from my own experience, I've found porn to be intellectually (and spiritually) inhibiting, probably because of the fact that I discovered it early and it's been a near-daily thing for me since. For a child, immature in all respects, porn presents a very contrived and fetishized version of something very intimate, dynamic, and organic. Television and movies definitely support this hypersexualization, while pretending to be somehow "above" adult entertainment. Fact is, porn is virtually unavoidable on the net and its effect on a developing brain can be no less than that of addiction.

But for a responsible individual who has a mature understanding of what sex and love are, porn doesn't pose any real threat.

So says I, anyway.
