GOD a dit:"
All i`m saying is you might think you can think your way around all the media / school / social conditioning we are subjected to from birth to death but you cant . You might be able to do a very good job of defending your mind but even then you live in a world full of people who mostly cant . They also create the mass reality that we all live in .
The world we live in has been controlled and we have been "cultivated" by the people in controll for thousands of years . A perfect example is the dark ages where the catholic church dictated reality and the people were totaly manipulated .
yes, well said
another way I try looking at it is like this:
if we consider that every thing we put in to our bodies, whether it is through our mouth, lungs or ´filtered´ through the senses, it is as food to us.
considering what our senses receive as food gives a whole new sense of responsibility. in just the same way a food can be good for us or negative/unhealthy, so can the air or the impressions we receive.
then we must ask ourselves: Is this worth it? will it be a positive thing for me from a broader perspective?
this is not to say that if something seems a bad thing in a subjective ´close-up´ look, it is to be completely banned. we all know that a bit of negative can be used positively, whether this is by ´suffering´ involved in physical exercise efforts, or vaccines which use a bit of the ´evil´ so we grow our defenses, ´evolve´. Also martial arts such as judo use the negative energy directed at them and trasform it against the oponent
Conscious suffering and using the ´bad´ positively is part of many traditions, gurdjieff teachings, fakhirs and their feats, renouncings of all kinds, isolation, etc.. Like perseus who when killed the medusa got her head as a newly acquired weapon.
So maybe the fact that the media exists, we can somehow separate something in it that can be of use to us.
I dont judge others if they watch it, but I personally avoid it as much as possible, because I think in its majority its bad food for me.
Im not a fanatic against it, if there is some good movie or something like that, I might watch it. but thats becoming rarer and rarer for some reason..
One of the main reasons I dont like tv, is advertisement. It is a major problem with the media, pernicious to the general well being of the human psych, the way I see it. but this deserves a whole separate discussion
