And we can add that their is a lot of best-selling pharm-products is the "not-a-drug" list even if undoubtfully enter in the definition of a "drug".
In order to understand betterly this problem, you have to know that even if we knows that ephedra has been used for more than 5000 years, ephedrine (one of the alcaloids present in ephedra) is a precusor to both methamphetamins and methcathinone (see
here for more infos). So by letting it legal (both ephedra or ephedrine) you let the possibility to people to transform it easily to a more active molecule (illegals one). The same problem can be found in the interdiction of growing poppies (Papaver Somniferum) in some countries because you can transform it to heroin. And as usually, goverments cares more about the votes who will put them in power than health issues. But we also have to recall that "EVERY COUNTRY HAS THE GOVERNMENT IT DESERVES " Joseph de Maistre.
Do we deserve such hunt for the little bad it risk to bring?
Do we have lunatics in charge? Because only a madman can think that forbidding a product like ephedra can stop people making meth... Haven't we already tryed to forbid to someone to "think about a pink elephant" and each time you tell him "thinking to pink elephant is bad and, so, forbidden" what will he think to for the next minutes ? The "pink elephant".
This kind of thoughs are really to avoid (in order to protect the status quo) if you want to stay sane not living wandering what is the ugly truth behind every politic moves.
"Politic is the art of controlling your environments" Hunter Thompson said, in a word it base on pointing, discretly, a problem (existang or not), let the people ask for a solution and then bring the solution that is both very interesting to you and your friends and, usually, brings other problems in order to obtain more, yes just more.
On those words i let you but i would first want to apologize for my mistakes in english.
