Yarrow, a plant that makes alcohol not suck so bad

Well, what is sometimes forgotten is that absinthe wasn't made in the first place to be some kind of thujone extract - that's why even historic absinthes are sometimes way below lawful levels of thujone.
Soaking wormwood in wodka is some kind of wormwood extract, it tastes awful and it might give you a buzz. Good absinthe is and always has been produced very differently and it tastes great!

I'm still not denying that essential oils from herbs and plants can have a supplementary effect on liquor - and I also think thujone does have that supplementary effect (I'm none of the absinthe-drinkers who totally deny it). But still, it's a little supplementary effect and nothing psychedelic.

Yeah ahah, you have to distill it or you are in for the worst tasting experience of your life... ordinary wormwood is already bad, but grand wormwood is TERRIBLE, has much more Thujone as well.

Can you refer us to that thread God , I'd like to see how that research was performed. I insist again that the psychoactive is produced in the liver by condensation with ammonia, thujone is not really active perse.

I have often the feeling that many people step over what I say and say the same arguments again. This is not a substance that you take alot at once and get a buzz like amphetamines, it's one where you take over a long period of time, it does not need to be concentrated in the absinthe, and usually you put other fine herbs in there to supplement the trip.

You have to let your liver do its job, then take another shot...

I'm not saying to do it ; it's listed as a deadly nerve toxin !!!

but you know, sage oil is 30% thujone and it's listed as perfectly safe !

Sometimes I wonder if the people who make the laws are purposefully stupid, or if they really don't get it at all.

Acacia species are one of natures most competent chemist tree, it even makes small amounts of meth sometimes in special conditions.

Now go figure how much of a chemist is the amanita mushroom. All research I have seen report incredible results, so incredible that most research firm that were financed to study it abandoned the project because they didn't understand anything.

I remember one study saying : Oh we found 40 times more molybdenum in the mushroom fruit than in the surrounding land, that must mean that mineral ions can travel large distances in the mushroom mycelia...

Ok I'm getting too deep here, I'm taking subscriptions if you want to join my sect :D

If you can read german theres an article about it here :-

http://www.psychonaut.com/index.php?opt ... 59&lang=en

The study is in the "Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry" . Its by Dirk Lachenmeier from the "Chemischen und Veterinäruntersuchungsamts (CVUA) Karlsruhe"and scientists in the UK and the USA .

The one in the "Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry" is in english if you can find it .

Thank you but no thank you , i dont want to make a date with you and you dont have to call me sir or your highness just call me GOD .

One cant say wich issue . It was probably this year though . I also read about it on the BBC world web site . And the german report comes from may .

Yeah I read em...

They talk alot about how they found the old bottles and tested them... well they didn't point out the other research that says how Thujone is unstable in liquor and decomposes with time ?

This is laughable, to me it all looks part of the very calculated effort at discrediting thujone because it's so available. Noone will ever make be beleive ketones are inactive...

But I almit I can understand how GOD could be mislead by such studies, up there in the sky it's hard to get some first hand experiences...

Can you get COD up there ? I suggest you go the legal way and get yourself a bottle of sage essential oil shipped to your door and use it in aromatherapy like the DEA itself said it was safe, and it's legal.

Wait a 30% essential oil is legal to sniff, but a 1% alcoholic drink is too much to sellm even illegal ? Don't you see the conundrum here about our friends the ketones.

Dosen't take a genius to feel the pattern if you ask me !

"Dosen't take a genius to feel the pattern if you ask me !"

We know that . It you that feels the patern .

Dont twist my words . I clearly said what i think .

Where did you read it ?

I have googled it and read it in some pdf... it was from 2008. I have read many actually...

That dosen't change the result of a ketone + ammonia.

Ok maybe I have had trouble following properly here...

What is it exactly you are saying about Thujone ? That it's completely inactive exept for nerve twitching and such ?

10 posts above your last post .

"I dont say its true . I dont know . I can only point to it as the latest reference that i have seen on the subject ".

I know how to read...

So will you try it ? It's legal and the DEA says it's safe to go with sage.

:P

I`ve had it . Made to an old recepie by a wine shop man i know . I felt a bit drunk , warm and a bit stoned . BUT , i was drunk , warm and a bit stoned . I wont do it again .

I tend more to ...."my boddy is a temple and not a dustbin" .

Thats a good idea !

Well in that case ocasionally sniffing a bottle of sage essential oil when you need a little extra energy is not going to hurt you, the indians smoked the whole plant and had you bathe in its smoke for 15 minutes, they still thought the body was a temple, but their method was much more toxic to say the least !

I learned too that when there's ketones in a plant, there are other things that make you high.

Some wormwood extracts on the net are in a form of a resin, and they certainly cannot contain thujone since it's very smelly. My guess is some substances in there resemble cannabis, because the resin does look familiar, and the taste when smoked is also similar, it sticks to your teeth the same fun way too :D
