The Scheduling System of Illegal Substances in the United States is preposterous, as most of you will know. However, the list is also incomplete. Following the guidelines, alcohol, nicotine and sugar would fall under schedule 1, 1 and 2 respectively.
I think we should start a campaign to outlaw these highly dangerous substances from our society, so that we will have a safer life. Another problem is that most countries base their course of action on these schedules, as the US has a stronghold on international relations. To make this world a safer place, the US should boycot countries that still produce and provide the use of these substances.

Here are the descriptions of the first two schedules for reference.
(1) Schedule I. -

(A) The drug or other substance has a high potential for abuse.

(B) The drug or other substance has no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States.

(C) There is a lack of accepted safety for use of the drug or other substance under medical supervision.

(2) Schedule II. -

(A) The drug or other substance has a high potential for abuse.

(B) The drug or other substance has a currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States or a currently accepted medical use with severe restrictions.

(C) Abuse of the drug or other substances may lead to severe psychological or physical dependence.

I'm afraid you are under the influence of modern, mislead dietary "science" in this case...

Sugar is an essential carbohydrate and you would have to ban most substances commonly known as "food" if you want to ban it.

Condemning sugar to be "bad for your health" is IMO on the same level as to label any other substance to be "bad for your health". I like to say that "eating is bad for your health". Why? Because everyone who eats daily is going to die sooner or later! Also living a long life is bad for your health! Why? Because statistics show that the longer you live, the higher the risk you potentially die!

Face it, you are going to die sooner or later - no matter if you eat what the dietary advisers tell you or not! People have been eating sugar for thousands of years, it is part of the natural food-chain. Maybe an excessive amount of sugar is bad for your health, but that can be said of any other substance (see Paracelsus)

Sorry, I'm under the influence of another "class one drug": alcohol, LOL
I know it's not good for me but it still feels good from time to time ;)
In my opinion we shouldn't ban any substances for so-called "health reasons" because we are all going to die sooner or later (reality shows it's sooner rather than later). What difference does it make if I live "healthy" or "unhealthy" as long as my spirit is well? You can live an unhappy "healthy" life of 100 years or live an "unhealthy" but happy life of 60 years - what difference does it make compared to eternity? It only makes the difference that you were either happy or unhappy

hehhehe, I was soooo high when I wrote this last post....
I was just being ironic, though, to show the inconsistency of certain laws and to maybe give a new impulse to legalization... I am not saying that any of these drugs *should* be banned, instead we should make all drugs legal (with the possible exception of crack-cocaine, which would of course die out if the real stuff were legal).

BTW Refined sugar can be removed from your diet easily, if you pay attention to it. I quit refined sugar for a while and it really made me clear in my head while I was doing it. At first I was craving for sugar, because I was so used to it, but that diminished over time. So I guess there was some sort of withdrawal period.

Ok, that is true. I wasn't trying to say that eating and drinking tons of sugar (like people actually do) is good for you.

I feel lucky in terms of all the modern eating and diet problems because I seem to have what some people are lacking: my body tells me what it wants to eat or not, also when to stop. I could never eat too much sugar because when I eat a certain (I think still healthy) amount of sweets then I suddenly get so fed up with it that I can't eat any more of it (sounds normal? But it seems that many people don't have this natural control system any more)
I don't have to worry much about eating the right stuff in the right amounts, I do it automatically. Maybe that's because as a child I was never forced to eat when I wasn't hungry, maybe I'm just lucky (I never really liked sweets that much, not even as a child)
