i belive you, devxavier. i do not belive that i have HPPD, i was just telling you what i see. perhaps i am just aware of it, and 90% of the times is my imagination.

Couldn't it be that HPPD just seems to be a rare disorder because many of the people suffering from it don't really see it as a problem and thus won't go to see a doctor about it?

I think it's a bit of both, I personally just don't see it as a disease or illness because it's so easy to learn to live with it.

yes I thought the same.
just because it is medically classified, it does not have to be an "illness".

Dev you are right . There have been studies done wich show that " normal " people who have never had drugs get effects like the ones that are being talked about here including what some people falsly call flashbacks . People who have had drugs atribute these effects to the drugs . Thats all , nothing more and nothing less . The brain is a strange thing and its hard to be objective , a good proof of that is how hard some people try to deny that they have had placebo effects . Or people who get high off things that have no drugs in them just through sugestion or personal fear wich they dwell on and magmify untill they believe that they have been high .

HPPD is an EXTREMELY rare condition. Seeing textures move is perfectly normal. Sight is a subjective thing. If you're in bed and you see yellow shapes moving with your eyes closed, it's all your imagination and because you're entering other states of conciousness. Trails are also common, we have just experienced full-blown psychedelic trails, so we know what they are in a psychedelic point of view. So we can give it a name.

HPPD basically only occurs when one takes huge amounts of a psychedelic drug, usually the person has a frightening life changing trip and is sensitive to the drug. The second option is one has abused a psychedelic drug. HPPD virtually always goes with dissociative thinking, fear disorder and depression. If you fit the criteria, you might have HPPD. If not, you're not having HPPD and it's just placebo/imaginary thinking.

Sorry if I sound harsh, but HPPD is so rare, I find it hard to believe so many people claim to suffer from it.

when i close my eyes I see patterns most of the time, but thats not a problem at all. Anyway, i have a very strong imagination (always had :p) but only in a creative way.
I have some depressions from time to time, but i think many people have that.
As a child i was often very affraid, but that only became less after psychedelics.
I never had a very frightening trip.

I dont think i have HPPD, but i just recognize the symptoms, as do most people here i guess. Isnt HPPD something that you just cant handle the symptoms, cant accept them? Or i guess they will be a lot worse or something.

Anyway, fuck it, i have a headache like hell and im going to bed :P

Grttz

ps: yeah, the anti-paddo hyves is just really a bunch of people who dont know what the fuck they are talking about, but think mushrooms are bad becouse the kid got ill.

There were an awful lot of people who had never met each other who had heard about this guy, and it was all within 3 months or so of when it was supposed to have happened... I can understand about the 'urban legend' thing and where you are all coming from. I suppose it probably does sound a bit weird when you think about it... What about flash backs? Can anyone explain them? I have only used about 1/3 of a trip in my life, and that was massively speedy, we were told it was S.T.P. I had only slight hallucinations about 10 hours after taking it, (the whole thing lasted for around 26-30 hours), and it was while watching a sunrise, and all the colors and the clouds came to form rivers of dead bodies with all the flesh stripped from the bones, and the redness of the sunrise itself caused the blood red. I could not believe how real this looked, and thought to myself that this is what HELL probably looks like. As you can imagine, I am not really into hallucinogenic drugs much now...
On another subject quickly, I posted a question about ether cleavage of the methylene dioxy ring on saffrole in "the bomb". could it be that because HBr causes cleavage at 130c and HI does the same at 120c? (Morrison and Boyd, 3rd Ed. 1973) Could it be this that causes the 'tar' when it makes MeBr or MeI? I read somewhere that when using just normal 1-phenyl-2-bromopropane and ammonia/methanol in the bomb, that here is no tar caused...
P.S. I am really sorry if this all sounded like shit... It was not my intention to try and fool people or anything.

Well, the unconscios mind tends to symbolize a loss of control as 'death', generally....powerful doses of psychedelics frequently do this to people, but it's funny, as soon as you learn to not attempt to control these images
( by resisting them) they lose their power and become, well, fascinating, as what they really are are mirrors into slices of your subconscious mind, and there's a lot of knowledge there, waiting to be tapped.

On your bromo question, yes, you're correct, but aminations done in the bomb never need go above 50-60 degrees C., as the original Polish reference used low temps with 50% success rate conversion, and if you're willing to wait 2 or 3 weeks, the amination can be done with no heat at all.
