If you have seen zeitgeist addendum you know a bit about jacque fresco and his futurist ideals called the venus project. Is this the standard of the aquarian age? the age of technological and cultural revolution? Or is it a stepping stone in the plan to obtain a one world government? please discuss

I suppose i should expand a bit for those of you who are unfamiliar.
The venus project proposes a society with no money, no government, no social classes, and no borders. by dissolving these things, there will be no need for war to stimulate a flawed system, or to steal resources from our brothers over seas, nothing to be jealous of for there will be no ownership of THINGS. transportation, living accomodations, art centers, schools, centers for thought, centers for science all will be provided by the self sustaining city.
A society that harnesses the power of geothermal energy, solar energy, and wind energy as clean and sustainable sources.
merging science and technology creating an environment that will not produce the behavior in humans like our insane societal environment creates criminals, rapists, murderers, and psychopaths. having a commUNITY that shares the resources of the earth for the betterment of humanity.

And how exactly does this project differs from any other utopy (please note that no sarcasm is intented in this question) ?

I suppose the difference is that this is something that seems to be in motion. Jacque Fresco has been planning this for his entire life. He has gone around the world doing lectures, and there seems to be a movement behind him. Pardon my ignorance, but no other utopian ideas that have sparked such a movement come to my mind.

so unfortunately i don't have time to research about it. is it coincidence that with the first impressions it reminded me of mythical ideas like atlantis???

Atlantis was in one spot. It seems Fresco would like to see cities all over the earth and sea, as well as in space (which reminds me of a certain talk by Robert Anton Wilson). I'm going through the website now and it seems he has a lot of good ideas. See the sections on transportation, energy, housing and construction for example.

Perhaps it will help, though I think these problems will be harder to tackle. I also wonder how humanity is going to shift from the current system to the application of Fresco's ideas. Expressed in terms of money, the projects shown on his website cost billions of dollars.

This is the condensed version. it may be viewed in its full 50 minute form in 5 segments on youtube

There have been many movements with utopian ideas in the past.

using volcano's as power generators. it seems like a good idea. How would they do it. May this be possible?

It's a great idea.

I think it is insulting to immediately label it as merely 'utopian'.

We are totally (unconsciously) saddling the whole idea with the baggage of the failed past by doing this, and as psychonauts should know better.

Labels= Limitations. THIS IS THE ENTIRE POINT OF THE PROJECT, letting go of the heirarchical classification system that has been programmed into us by billions of repetitious sound-bites.

Someone better figure something out, and fast, we're running out of time.

I agree with spice.

Jacque's ideas call for a paradigm shift, which is essentially what the world needs if we are to solve any of our major problems. The system we've been operating in, and the mindset we've held are not cutting. Nothing short of a complete overhaul of our current disposition will result in us either blowing ourselves up or sucking the life right out of the earth. imho.

As for the harnessing of geothermal energey. I'd imagine it'd have something to do with having turbines suspended above the volcano, and the rising heat would cause the turbines to spin.
Though I'm sure the process can be refined much further.
just a thought. could be way off base.

I don't know how much merit to give to global warming be the 'end all'.

The prehistoric had no ice-covered poles. really to be honest I see this as a very good sign that we can prolong the atmosphere on earth as habitable. The BIGGEST problem would be if we were entering an ice-age. That is not reversible unless very, very large catastrophes occur.

Certainly many will die due to global warming...

I Don't think terrestial utopian projects are where its at. I think population limitation is where it is it, and space travel. We can fucking travel in space quite easily, we don't need years of training, we don't need nasa-approved shuttles. Space flights are now commercially available.

Solar and wind energy are the only source of fuel now. Gas and oil should only be used for operations where large power is needed immidiately. I don't have hope that we will actually leave earth. Where would we go, mars? How would mars be any more habitable than earth will ever be?

Is there any benefit to inhabiting mars other than expanding our population? No, not really.

Will we ever leave our solar system?

...

No.

Relax, buy some solar panels, fund research, have hope. But in reality the limitations of size and distance outweigh our meager minds exponentially.

What about using the volcano for thermal energy instead.. sounds a bit more logical to me.
and lets just stick to wind generator plans (website with lots of info) for wind derived power.

I think that most of the ideas are technically and scientifically feasible and they have been conceived with pure values in mind. Like ecology, economical efficiency, public access, the ability to expand and the elegance to remain simple. Engineering masterpieces. What is not yet true, though required for the project to exist is:
a) World Peace
b) No nations
c) No greed or money
...or if one wants to see it this way, these can be the tools to acquire the above and much more.

'a' 'b' and 'c' are different facets of the same piece of glass

the fact that we DONT have peace, DO have nations and DO have greed/ money all stem from the same source, but these sources stay in hiding.

war is an INDUSTRY

banking is too

nations are the middlemen betwixt the two

first, the motherfucking banks and the entire credit systems got to go this is the engine that drives it all

federal reserves gotta go with it

then, the expansionism has to go

Americas gotta quit trying to police the world

we have to quit taking it in the ass

its pretty simple
