Judge Troch from Dendermonde (Flanders, Belgium) has sentenced 6 cannabis growers to jail.
Shame... yeah, for sure. But I can't say it's very surprising.

However...
what did surprise me
was the fact that judge Troch still used the medieval 'Stepping Stone' theory for pointing out the dangers of cannabis use.
You know... "Almost every junky that's ever been in my court has started with a joint..."

...
Now I've been a regular blower for 12-13 years
and since 5-6 years I smoke a joint every night.
I mean: I know what I'm talking about

and...
it is a fact that most cannabis in coffeeshops has become extremely strong lately.
it is a fact that some people will develop latent psychic problems.
it is a fact that some people will suffer a mental addiction.
it is a fact that heavy use often leads to a increasing lack of motivation in daily life.
Er... did I already mention that it is a fact that heavy blowing will (temporarily) deteriorate the short-term memory?

Anyway- there are plenty of real arguments one can plead against uncontroled use of cannabis and as information for youngsters,
but still judge Troch had to point out that
'almost every junky that's ever been in his court started with a beer when he was a teenager.'

Oh- wait a minute... now I'm confused...
It did really start with a beer, dinnit ?

This judge's proof of wisdom actually reminds me of another judge I read about some years ago
and his question to a minor who was in for possession of cannabis...
Judge: "So how many of those joints do you inject every day?"

This is why I have this morbid hope to get a visit from the police someday to have the opportunity to inform at least one judge :)

But I agree, its bullshit.

sad to see that even the supposedly high educated people don't know shit =/

HeartCore a dit:

Well, I was at the police station a few days ago, I tried to tell them what Erowid was, but those people didn't wanted to understand shit...

I mean, I never thought that cops were stupid before this episode, it just looks like they're choosing the most stupid and low-minded guys in the police school so that they will never consider what the people they interoggate could tell them...

I'll see a judge in a few days too, maybe it'll be different, but this is a real slim hope...

Tiax a dit:
[...] it just looks like they're choosing the most stupid and low-minded guys in the police school [...]
Of course -as in any profession- there are both bright lights & big asses in any policeforce.
I personally know at least 5 policemen from football/school and they vary from intelligent individuals to a well drilled monkey.
Although at least three of them know I very much like to smoke a joint, we do not often mention cannabis while conversating.
Guess that would put us both in an awkward and uncomfortable position...

I also guess (or maybe it's more like hoping) that the only reasons for getting into trouble as a user are getting caught pants-down
while blowing in a very public place (or with children nearby) or while blowing in traffic.

...
Still leaves plenty of time and places to fully enjoy Mary Jane...
