Judge Troch from Dendermonde (Flanders, Belgium) has sentenced 6 cannabis growers to jail.
Shame... yeah, for sure. But I can't say it's very surprising.
However...
what did surprise me
was the fact that judge Troch still used the medieval 'Stepping Stone' theory for pointing out the dangers of cannabis use.
You know... "Almost every junky that's ever been in my court has started with a joint..."
...
Now I've been a regular blower for 12-13 years
and since 5-6 years I smoke a joint every night.
I mean: I know what I'm talking about
and...
it is a fact that most cannabis in coffeeshops has become extremely strong lately.
it is a fact that some people will develop latent psychic problems.
it is a fact that some people will suffer a mental addiction.
it is a fact that heavy use often leads to a increasing lack of motivation in daily life.
Er... did I already mention that it is a fact that heavy blowing will (temporarily) deteriorate the short-term memory?
Anyway- there are plenty of real arguments one can plead against uncontroled use of cannabis and as information for youngsters,
but still judge Troch had to point out that
'almost every junky that's ever been in his court started with a beer when he was a teenager.'
Oh- wait a minute... now I'm confused...
It did really start with a beer, dinnit ?

This judge's proof of wisdom actually reminds me of another judge I read about some years ago
and his question to a minor who was in for possession of cannabis...
Judge: "So how many of those joints do you inject every day?"
