describe effects of cannabis on your sleep.

I have quite a hard time going to sleep when high.
does it work the other way with any of you?

When I smoke, and try to take a nap I often find myself between being awake and sleeping. That place where you dream, ear, see and feel like swimming through the mind and imagination.

Though, there is times that I do fall asleep.

well if you just smoke and then attempt to go to sleep of course you won't succeed! your mind would still be racing. in my case, what happens is that if i have smoked (and waited some hours afterwards) the time it takes for me to actually go unconscious after i go to bed gets reduced drastically. i mean, the transition is smoother.

Cannabis is a stimulant. You'll end up sleepless with extended thoughts and insights. Once the effects have subsided, a sensual and calm drownsiness remains and you'll sleep very pleasant and deep.

Pretty much exactly it. I sometimes like taking a good hit or two and just close my eyes and drift. Some of the more stunning cannabis experiences I've had have come to me in this way.

However I do find that as long I'm keeping the frequency of cannabis usage down (like a couple times a week or so), a small toke is great for knocking me out when I have insomnia. It actually works better than pretty much anything else I've tried, herbs, melatonin, you name it. I can just relax, the cannabis launches me into a sort of hypnagogic state, and then suddenly I'm out like a light, usually within minutes. I might on average resort to this once every month or two, and it works like a charm for me every time. Caveat.. I know some people who have used cannabis to fall asleep every day and after a while it just stops working.. and some people just stay awake for hours after a toke. Perhaps it depends a lot on your intent, and your habits in the way you use cannabis. (And of course your physical makeup)

may the sativa/indica ratio have its influence on the subject?

^of course but do you know the sativa/indica ratio of your joints?

So they told me in school
Oh my. When I think of what I've been told in school regarding "drugs", there's an instant urge to grab an AK-47 and "Let's kill all these motherfuckers!!!" [them who told it :?]
On the subject: imho, cannabis isn't just a stimulant and depressant, it can also be psychedelic [thank you captain obvious], opiate-like and dissociative, etc. You're probably getting the idea it's quite awesome, right? :D

A stimulant and a depressant. So they told me in school ;)

That's the place where the climax is a prom and a tuxedo though.

In school they told me that doin hash or weed was like doing Heroin.
There is no difference.
And it will all fuck you up, after that first time.

What a load of crap that was!

They ALWAYS show Cannabis in joint form too, they make it look like some kind of hard drug only pushers sell, I had the wrong impression of it up until like 18. I mean think about it, if they just showed you that it was just a plant ( a gorgeous one at that) there wouldn't be anything to fear. I think were leaps and bound from that pot was considered in the 70s-80s though, I believe it's wide recognized as not particularly harmful.

Also was fun seeing all the doodling on the Marijuana pages of the health textbooks lol.

Interestingly enough I remember in psychology class our teacher went over all the forms of drugs in a neutral, informative, and objective way, I still remember every description for the effects he gave to this day, and you know what? He was spot on for all the one's i've tried thus far :O

When I fall asleep while high, and when I wake up I don't feel rested at all. So I try to not sleep while being high, doesn't always work

???????? a dit:

if you know what strain of weed you are smoking, yes, you can find out its genes.

Cannabis is a depressant.

However, for me I've noticed that I can't sit still for the first hour or so. I want to go do a buncha stuff. Write, play guitar, color, think, meditate, zone out, get food, get food, get food, smoke again, clean room; etc. Then after that I'm pretty chill and just want to flip on a movie, or listen to music.

As for taking a nap while high-- eh. It's kinda hard to, but everyone reacts differently. It's quite possible to lay there and zone out until you fall asleep, but since your under its effects, your body tends to say 'Fuck no, I love this!' and you'll stay awake.
I can only fall asleep as it's wearing off after 3-4 hours.
(:

When I have smoked a joint in the beginning of the evening after work, I sometimes fall asleep on the couch for just a couple of minutes. It TOTALLY kills the buzz I had and I wake up disoriented and agitated.

As for smoking before going to bed, I think it's an amazing way to fall asleep quickly. its not a stimulant for me in the sense it keeps me awake. I often smoke a joint with some music on when going to bed and wake up with half the joint still in the ashtray.

I don't smoke during daytime and only before i go to bed, and i can't say that i can't sleep because i smoked a joint. I guess the effects difference from person to person, for example:

I wish i had these effects, but the last thing what's on my mind when i smoke a joint, will be cleaning and moving for at least 2 or 3 hours :P

back when i was out in canada my roommate used to comment on how quickly i would pass out at night.. id smoke a joint and litterally, 3 minutes afterwards he wouldnt be able to wake me up (turning the tv way up, yelling, the bastard even tried waking me up one time by jumping on my bed!) but yeah, nothing worked. although that was some of the best chronic i have EVER smoked. (3 tokes and your eyes feel like sand paper, acting sumwhat like a zombie) but yeah, i used to smoke about an oz of that stuff a week.. i miss it:(

No. It's a depressant, stimulant, and psychedelic. It's none and all three. Out of all the drugs out there(besides Salvia), it's an oddity and isn't easily fit into any category.
