Does anybody have digital pics of their homegrown shrooms??? I'd like to see other people’s to compare with mine.

I think I'm doing everything 100% correct but I'm so antsy! I check my little shroom cakes every 5 mins... hehehe Don't worry, I don't touch anything..

It's been 5 days and the top of the cake is getting little white spider web blotches (like mold). I can also see TONS of little brown dots forming (They look like tiny worms).. I'm presuming they are the mushies... I hope so because there’re TONS and TONS of them! woohoo!!

I’ll post a pic as soon as I see the little buggers sticking their heads out.

Hey,

I was reading the direction on how to grow shrooms. It says to put clear plastic over the bucket.. I used alumnium foil instead of clear plastic wrap. Does that matter? Should I remove the foil and put plastic on instead?

Everything looks ok in there so far.. I'm worried they might not get enough light...

I used aluminum foil, but i used an aquarium..so they got plenty of light.

About the foil, can you give some more specifics about wha you are doing. Cake or casing. Ready for pinning an making mushrooms, etc.

Well, I order the mushroom grow kit from this website (Azarius)..

The kit is sitting in a white dish pan (The thing you use to was dishes in). With 1cm of water in the bottom and Aluminum foil over the top.. There is a 13cm opening at in the foil. Room temp is 24 Degrees Celsius and the relative humidity is 50%.

The kit it sitting on a filing cabinet that is facing a window.. It is winter time here in the USA, so there is not too much light.. The mushroom cannot be in the direct sun light..

I gota get a new digi-cam.. Other wise I would have just posted a picture.

i bet mr cactus uses grain substrate , just as in the growboxes , better than cakes because a bigger mass of mycelium can be made

I know he used grain for his cake, but i wanted to know how else he used the grain. Like if he put it in a container like the grow kit, or somethin' like that.

Pix: The have to be online first of all. At a suited server which allows you toshow the pics on other websites too.

casing is the traditionnal way to grow many shrooms species , the cakes are just an alternative way

Would i just use rye to innoculate the spores, or would i mix the rye with vermiculite??

This shroom stuff is still new to me.. Can someone give a brief explaination of how you gorw them?

So far I have:
You need a substrate to grown them on. Dirt compost, or rye cakes, or some other type of grain cake.

Then you need to put the spores on the cakes? Where does vermiculite and innoculations come into play? and what is mucilin? [sorry about the spelling]

BTW! My mushrooms are growing!!! woohoo! 1 more week!
