I would like to mention a new book about Ayahuasca Shamanism - Shedding the Layers: How Ayahuasca Saved More Than My Skin. This tells the story of several years of my life living in the Amazon jungle with ayahuasca shamans. I went to try and heal an incurable disease and simultaneously had my mind opened to a world beyond my wildest imagination.

You can read extracts and order your copy here: Shedding the Layers | How Ayahuasca Saved More Than My Skin
Until June 3rd there is also the option of requesting a signed copy.

Cheers
Mark

On 22nd July, I will be at Namaste Bookshop in New York giving a talk about the years I spent living with ayahuasca shamans in the Amazon jungle in a bid to heal an agonising and supposedly incurable illness. I will also be signing copies of my new book which tells this story, Shedding the Layers: How Ayahuasca Saved More Than My Skin.

While in the jungle the medicine spirits of the Amazonian trees came to me and began to teach me. I learned that the eczema was a wakeup call from Spirit to radically change my way of living and perceiving the world. The book mixes the story of my fight to overcome this illness with timeless wisdom that I learned directly from the spirits through my spiritual awakening.

It is now available to purchase on Amazon or directly from myself via my website (shedding-the-layers.com).

Best wishes and I hope to see you in New York

fair enough. may i ask what your diet was like before you became aware of a necessary change? recently i have gotten into nutrition pretty hardcore, it's interesting to hear about other peoples experiences, and also try to figure out what kind of deficiencies people may have. no doubt i still have my own obstacles in this regard, but i find that discussing them helps the healing process

I tried various diets during my healing journey, including a raw food diet for several months. While diet can be really important to healing different conditions, in the end for myself what I ate didn't make much difference. But after my time spent with the ayahuasca I live a much healthier lifestyle - I no longer drink alcohol and I eat healthily because it makes me feel better. Nothing special - just lots of veggies, quinoa and little fried food. Chocolate is about my only vice these days and I still enjoy plenty of that :)

ok, i can dig it  i tried raw fooding for a little while as well, but found it rather limiting... some food just needs to be cooked and actually becomes more nutritious when cooked (like destroying/removing phytic acid in grains). chocolate can actually be good for you too, so long as it's dark chocolate with an alternative form of sugar (not refined sugar). i've been getting this kind lately that donates money toward an endangered species fund, which is cool in itself, but they use unrefined beet syrup or cane juice as the sweetener. good stuff, and most importantly, i actually feel good after eating it, in moderation of course.

so how long did you live in the amazon?
