im not sure it is C. purpurea. it looks subtly different from the rest of the population in the area. im not even sure it is growing on P. arundinacea haha
i collected around 3oz of ergot and made a cold water infusion of it. i let it settle in the fridge then decanted and filtered it (through filter paper then foolscap) before drinking it. it tasted very slightly of coconuts. i got quite a powerful clean trip from it, but spent most of it worrying my nose might fall off, so i would never recommend it, given the risks.
