Maybe the plants are afraid of very bad insects or other bugs and therefore a higher concentration of THC which is a neurotoxin in a way makes them happier, because they feel safer from insect-harrassing-attacks.

if it does discourage insects the plant will benefit but there is no plan as such. some mutations will kill the organism but you dont see them. you see them in humans though because we keep each other alive in those situations.

If its against something then catapillers not insects . Maybe as the THC content gets stronger with UV its a UV blocker . Plant sun tan oil .

haha !! consider that weed is a Solanaceae-plant. so your theory would make some sense... maybe the plants prefer flowering in the dark to flowering in the light... the sun-blocker would be there to make the transportation of the substances for the flowering safer, by protecting it from the nasty radiation from the sun.
