So I just did this stuff tonight (I'm still under the effect), and I thought I would share the experience.

Me and two friends ground up 26 whole nutmeg nuts with a coffee grinder, and then put it in 12 cups of water to let simmer for about an hour and a half. Then we all had three glasses of the stuff, which tasted fine and could have passed for a tea if we had of strained it at all (there was a lot of solid matter on those last gulps at the end).

Within 15 minutes it felt like a really good, very noticable marijuana high. Like the first time I smoked some good old dankity dank. No visuals except for a bit of dizziness which made the room move more slowly than my swinging head was anticipating, and for a while I felt pretty energetic.
45 minutes in, I got very lethargic and laid down, and then puked my guts out until 60 minutes in, when I got back to feeling how I did at the beginning. Voices are slow, every muscle in my body is relaxed, and it feels a little more like a good alcohol buzz, probably since I still have a tinge of nausea.

I can see why this junk isn't popular, and it wasn't worth the amount of time and effort that went into preparing it, even though all the nutmeg was free(stolen), and the whole thing was fun cause my buddies are good folks, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless they were real hard up for some intoxication.

The word intoxication fits nutmeg well. I feel intoxicated, and the vomiting was pretty helpful, since for 10 minutes before it happened, I was half certain I was gonna die.

So don't do nutmeg kids. Or do it. It won't kill you I guess, so it will either make you stronger, or weak as a kitten huddled over a porcelain throne blowing out the strange chunks that were once probably a decent meal.

Yeah, thankfully so, otherwise egg nog would be banned :P

I don't see why people care to take nutmeg??

cause if they catch you with a joint you are dead meat ina jail?...
at least
when i did it it was 'cause i couldn't trust anybody so i went to the market and bought the nuts
and thought i'd get a cheap legal high

i shat red for a week
(the oil of the nut is red and irritant)

I just hadn't done it before, was tired of drinking all the time, and wanted to find out if there was any truth in the story which I had been hearing since middle school.

If you're tired of drinking, don't drink
Sounds like you need a substitute...

If a drug is rarely used, it's for a reason...
There is a thread somewhere about substitutues for alcohol

wise words. why waste our time on substances that won't get you anywhere ? go for the real thing. IMHO, it is better a single overwhelming experience a year than dozens of shitty experiences like the one you had. that kind of research has been done over and over. (although experiences may vary)

stealing nutmeg!! man, I dunno what to say

that is weak.......

Well I'm sorry to disappoint, but I consider stealing from wal-mart to be a minor virtue, as do I consider satiating one's curiosity.

I'm not gonna do the stuff again obviously, but sometimes you've gotta waste a little time to know you aren't wasting all your time.

ive eaten nutmeg couple of times. never more than 3 cos i was told it was poisonous. first time got a noticable high, second nothing, last nothing so made 80 mushroom coffee, drank half and had crazy high come on before i could finish. it was full on visuals and made me laugh. till i was sore. makes your sweat smell like starbucks(nutmeg) edit; african slaves took nutmeg cos its all they could get yhe dose was a matchbox equivelent of ground or grated nutmeg and the effects would often include vomiting. as notmeg was worth more than them weight for weight they would often be whipped or worse if caught. its not really worth the taste for the effects

and it has killed people

Well actually...more than 25grams (about 4 table spoons) can kill you :P thought I'd mention that...

Eh.
I tried the Nugmeg thing. Honestly, it was disgusting. I had little to no effects with it. (I may not have ingested enough) If you can down a bunch of it without throwing up-- you're a trooper. It's really hard to not throw up though. Your body wants to throw it out.

As of now, I can't stand the taste or smell of it. It's nasty. I've never had any sort of effect from it, or any noticeable one. I did feel a very, very, very light sense of calmness/euphoria, but nothing earth-shaking.

There has also been several reports of people who smoke it. Don't do that. It'll stink up the place and the smoke would likely make you throw up. Also, the toxin in Nutmeg has to be ingested, not vaporized for it to work.

From my experience, nutmeg can be quite enjoyable when done right. A few things to consider:

-Substance: try to get fresh, whole nuts. Easier to get down, more effective.
-Dose: 2 to 4 nuts (2-4 tablespoons?) mean a two-three day kickback for me.
-Effects: Don't expect anything amaaaazing. It's very comparable to a low-average dose of marijuana, with an added "poisoned" dimension.
-Side-effects: dehydration, gastro-intestinal distress, bloodshot eyes, light sensitivity, liver damage. It sounds worse than it is, but I'd rather write them all.

But I think the most important is to keep expectations low. It can be fun, but it's still something your grandma has in her spice rack. Plus, low expectations are more easily surpassed.

nutmeg? Wait, nutmeg? Huh like nutmeg? Never thouht they would be a drug resp. intoxicating :) I'll google it.

sounds about right to me. back when my friends and i were younger & hurtin for a good “trip

I did it once in 2004. Downed 2 entire pots of crunched nutmeg from the grocery store with milk.

I actually took a nap and 4 hours later I woke up with a dry throat and a stomach with pain which suffered from constipation and diarrhoea at the same time.

When I walked over to the kitchen for some water, my sight missed the steel of the saucepan that was on the kitchen table. When I put the light on, it became visible. I felt extremly slow, difficulty in short term memory but no single sign of discomfort. Just like I woke up with a lack of sleep and no motivation.

The only markable effect was that my sight misinterpretated the contours of objects. I had just had to concentrate hard to see it right, it wasn't accompanied by any emotion apart from irritation. I seemed more moody too, similar as when you get irritated after you got disturbed from your sleep.

The other thing I noticed was that there was that my natural tuning of day and night was turned off. I just felt the same at 3 AM and 3 PM. Some way this was pleasant.

Life just seemed a bunch of boredom and nothing was really interesting.

It were 3 days a slow life with dry lips, there was no dehydration (just awareness of dryness), no feelings of fright, decreased appetite and I had choatic dreams, no nightmares just settings and persons that had no association at all.

The effects were very poor, long-lasting (started to decrease after 2 days, vanished after 3 days) and as an overal summary it was like life was experienced as a 'sitting in front of the TV being lazy' mentality. Side effects included a massive headache (which couldn't be reserved with asprine), easily irritated, slower reaction, lack of motivation, drowsiness but not being in able to sleep fine, unpleasant digestion, laziness and decreased focus.

It doesn't have any effects that are worth it, the side effects are not dangerous at all I suppose, just a bunch of irritation.

it sounds like your experience was all in the head. Nutmeg doesnt hit you that fast, and, the compounds in it are not water soluble from what i remember

4 hours is plenty enough for mystricin to hit you... what are you talking about ?

I can't believe this thread is still around.

Anyhow, I'm going to experiment with a small (3 tbs) of nutmeg this evening. I'll post back the effects in a few days. Hopefully I won't throw up or something.

I also plan on smoking a bit of tobacco afterward so my mouth will taste like something good.
