Hey guys, I'm planning on doing a butane extraction for oil tomorrow, previously I used Pyrex Glassware (baking pot) but find that it is hard to impossible to get in the corner with anything (i usually use a razor blade). So what do you guys you? Would it be safe to extract the butane/oil mix directly in to say a 2liter bottle where it could easily be scraped out, or will the butane react with the plastic?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :D

a 2 litre plastic fizzy drinks bottle is perfect. when the gas is evaporating place the bottle on its side so the oil gathers on a side of the bottle, not the base. then cut the bottle open to extract the oil.
DO IT OUTSIDE. its extremely dangerous. do i have to say dont smoke?

wrap the oil as soon as possible and keep it wrapped when your not using it or it will polymerise/crystalise. the freezer is best in terms of making it easier to handle.
a suitable container for the oil can be fashioned from the sort of material that record sleeve covers are made from, clear PVC. fashioned into an envelope if the style of a speed/coke wrap. have it pre folded and creased. it will contain the oil and you can extract most of it with little waste

Well I'm only expecting between .5-1g of oils, so if the 2 liter bottle will work than im deff do that, except I'll prolly just leave it actually in the 2 liter until ready to drip a couple drops in the pipe, would any problems come from this? I would think not but, you never know. and than once butane is all evap for storage, just cover open ends with clingy seran wrap?

Thanks for info, you seem as if you speak from experience ;)

And on the note of smoking anywhere near this, and not doing it outside, if you don't have the common sense not to, than you shouldn't even be doing anything other than laying in bed.

1/2 - 1 gram is a reasonable amount of oil, in that it should last a couple of days. if i was to do it id wrap is as described above, its easier to handle and wont harden, which im sure it will if left on the side of the bottle. it hardens fairly fast especially relatively small amounts. if its transfered soon after extraction and still contains some solvent there is very little waste.if you leave it in the bottle some will polymerize making it almost impossible to remove, and i believe denaturing the THC

you will find there is a small amount of water mixed in with it from condensation caused by the evaporating gas. because you are not going to keep it too long it isnt really a problem but it will make the oil cloudy. if you are spreading the oil on a paper it can cause the paper to rip. the way round this is to put a blob on the paper and let the heat of your finger/hand dry it before spreading the oil. it takes seconds.
