Guide says decrease temp at night

Read a growing guide that says the temperature in a grow room should be 68 to 78 degrees, and drop by around 15 during dark hours.

Is this NECESSARY? Like, what is the temperature stays static?

As pointed out by the Greenwizard, Lamps off should give this change with relative ease. How have you achieved a static temperature? Are you sure it doesnt drop at night?

I take it you won't flower them under fluo's. If you do, I wouldn't worry about the temps since your harvest will be less to nothing anyway. If you do use a real light for flowering, temps will drop naturally when they are off as suggested by others.

In summertime, lights on during daytime by the way. If you don't, you can get problems with temps not dropping at all with lights off due to the added warmth of the real sun.

Maybe a degree or 2 in variation with a fluro still, I would say.

As pointed out by HeartCore flowering under a fluro will result in a poor yield, Better to go that extra mile and get a 600W HPS.

You can grow under fluro's or usually the ballast that you need for a HPS supports MH (Metal Halide) lamp too.

ok. so i own a 54 watt High Output T5.

assuming i were to also purchase a 400W or 600W HPS

which lights should i use in which stages?

HPS is for flower but if all you have is 54W T5, Id use it for Veg too.
