I think that once you start getting going with the exercise (say, running/jogging) and you have found your momentum, the actual physical routine becomes a nice flow outside of your depression (as in, pertaining to something almost outside of your body, outside of your psyche at least) and therefore easy and possibly even pleasurable to hang on to.
I think we all know the power of depression and how it can really hold you down to one square of land for a very long time, but we should also remember that depression passes, that there are--even though often it might not seem like it--many times ahead of you to look forward to. If you find that you really should exercise due to overweight or health issues, then those times ahead of you will be that much better, have you done your exercises. Just stick through it, mate!
