It's funny what a reputation can do to something...I like to think of myself as someone who has "been around the block" when it comes to mind altering experiences; being a frequent user of weed and willing to try anything short of opiates at least once, my only guide before a trip usually being what some other person who's tried it had to say about it. It's a no-nonsense approach that rarely fails, which is why DMT has me intrigued in way that few other things I know about do.

I might be a little obtuse for pointing out the elephant in the room, but doesn't anyone here find it just a little odd that everyone who has taken a massive hit of that drug always relates to some insane "they tried to show me the secrets of the universe" story that is either too good to be true (or too true to be good?).

I've heard of Mckenna and Leary, and they have all done a fine job at showing us the universe is a much bigger place than a sober mind can see, but has anyone done any research into the encounters with what is often called the machine elves or the inner-worldly (outer-worldly?) beings??? Did any scientist out there ever have like 20 people high on DMT, lying on some mattresses, trying to contact those things and record the conversations that transpire???

It might be worth considering that the earth was flat once and anyone who said it was round was just plain silly. What would happen if someone took a serious exploratory approach at finding out what those things are and if they do hold the secrets of the universe, can they be coaxed into giving them up? ; )

I'd like to hear more about people who have been there, as I have only ever reached the "cool geometry" phase of the high the one time I was able to get my hands on some. But even there, with everything I've heard about it so far, if only half of it is true, I am seriously considering starting my own drug cult bent on unlocking the secrets of the gods via DMT super doses.

What say you?

I like your obtuseness.

Have you ever been to the Dmt-nexus? It's a forum like this, but almost completely dedicated to DMT...

I can't really say anything about DMT. Not because of little experience, but because I don't understand it. Does anyone? IT makes no sense.

You inhale, you are told everything, you walk around with the gift of the gods. You forget it. You forget the feeling. You remember one, two peices. You go back in "Holy shit I forgot about this!" repeat...

I remember thinking a few days ago how I was coming off dmt and I started giggling at how my mushroom trips don't hold a candle to the sun of DMT. I remember feeling the pillow beneath my head, and the life of everything pulsing - and I came out of it and I got a millisecond glimpse of a mushroom trip, and how mild and tame it seemed after that.

I am not belittling psilocybin, only explaining DMT.

I do sometimes find it odd how we all see the same things more or less, and are all told the workings of the universe.

But if you really want to know - its "you" that is telling yourself this. These are just thoughts, reflected by DMT, while in a state of AWE. You have always known what they tell you - haven't you? Really, when they tell you the things they do - don't they seem familiar? Hadn't you already questioned it?

The real question is what is the definition of "you"?

I think what DMT does is really just show you that you're not just a brain chilling in a skull... you're everything; a filtered, biased, idea-creating, and idea-explaining entity. DMT just opens up the linearity in thought and allows you to see it all at once, all of your knowledge in a few moments, coupled with intense hallucinations predominantly anthropomorphized to be relatable.

or... is it we are seperate beings, talking to gods?

I don't know, I can't say... Its just there.

SpaceHerpes a dit:

Yes, they did: you obviously didn't read this highly recommended book by Rick Strassman, so go ahead and buy it ;):

Thanks a gazillion for the info...keep it coming if you're still holding out on some. I will definitely buy the book, especially since I couldn't find a pirated version...

@GregAndrsn: I am willing to concede there may be a definite sharing of knowledge between you and the entity, but I am hard pressed to believe it's just a beefed up version of some imaginary friend I had when I was 4 years old. As you implied, this may be turning point for the philosophical and psychological definitions of "what is me??"

To wit: I am not having a conversation with myself, I am talking to someone who (at least partially) lives in me. Much like the elephant talking to one of his fleas or tapeworms, except everything I heard leads to believe it's more of a symbiotic thing. At any rate, even a tapeworm could have some decent info on how the elephant should proceed with his diet, which is why I remain fixated on trying to be enlightened by one of those "machine elves".

DMT is becoming such a controversial subject because of the way people are encountering the same type of entities or are having the same trips. People IMO are getting too involved with that world. What i mean by that is people are believing everything they see. I'm not saying everyone, but a lot of people are. We shouldn't get too sucked into our experiences and try to figure out answers to unanswered questions. life is short. spend it with people you love, and people that love you. Don't spend your whole life trying to figure out the mystery behin the universe. We're more likely going to know when we die. Or maybe not.
