It's funny what a reputation can do to something...I like to think of myself as someone who has "been around the block" when it comes to mind altering experiences; being a frequent user of weed and willing to try anything short of opiates at least once, my only guide before a trip usually being what some other person who's tried it had to say about it. It's a no-nonsense approach that rarely fails, which is why DMT has me intrigued in way that few other things I know about do.
I might be a little obtuse for pointing out the elephant in the room, but doesn't anyone here find it just a little odd that everyone who has taken a massive hit of that drug always relates to some insane "they tried to show me the secrets of the universe" story that is either too good to be true (or too true to be good?).
I've heard of Mckenna and Leary, and they have all done a fine job at showing us the universe is a much bigger place than a sober mind can see, but has anyone done any research into the encounters with what is often called the machine elves or the inner-worldly (outer-worldly?) beings??? Did any scientist out there ever have like 20 people high on DMT, lying on some mattresses, trying to contact those things and record the conversations that transpire???
It might be worth considering that the earth was flat once and anyone who said it was round was just plain silly. What would happen if someone took a serious exploratory approach at finding out what those things are and if they do hold the secrets of the universe, can they be coaxed into giving them up? ; )
I'd like to hear more about people who have been there, as I have only ever reached the "cool geometry" phase of the high the one time I was able to get my hands on some. But even there, with everything I've heard about it so far, if only half of it is true, I am seriously considering starting my own drug cult bent on unlocking the secrets of the gods via DMT super doses.
What say you?
