Cognition Factor

The plot is simple. One person's quest for enlightenment in a digital age as he explores the 'big five' questions, questions that have been posed since humans were first capable of asking; "Who am I"?

Cognition Factor stitches live conversations with Terence Mckenna, brother Dennis Mckenna, along with Ralph Abraham, Rupert Sheldrake, Ralph Metzner, Alex Grey, and twenty more of the top thinkers of our times, into the plot. It's a narrated gonzo documentary, happening inside a 3D landscape backed by original compositions from top musicians like Lx Paterson, Dom Beken and Phil Le Gonedic, of The ORB, Merv Pepler (EatStatic/Ozrik Tentacles), Colin Angus& Matt Catt (The Shamen/Pablo_Sandoz), Steve Hillage (System 7) and ambient composer Indidginus.

Facing our deepest fears with hope and understanding, Cognition Factor seeks a new way of presenting word, picture, music and opinion to increasingly informed audiences who are sick and tired of media prescription. It's possibly the world's first 'smart movie'.

I want to use the byline; "A cyberpunk's search for enlightenment", but marketing assures me that this will not be understood by 'everyone'.

But maybe smart movies aren't for everyone, just smart people, or cyberpunks.

Which are you?

Mike

More info on the film:

Mixing phantasmagorical effects, electronic music and the wisdom of great thinkers, Cognition Factor is not meant for the faint at heart.

For his first feature-length film, South African Mike Kawitzky spent ten years, off and on, tracking down consciousness experts such as Terrence McKenna, John Shirley and Dr. Ralph Metzner. He also spent six months working on the 3D visual effects that are interspersed with the talking heads. The result ...
