...recently, if you've been following the current political events in the United States, you'll come to find the complete stupidity of the most popular event that much of the media tends to suck up...the obama/wright story.

This story has been all over the news for the past few months or so and it's the same shit spewed out all over again. I don't feel like typing out the whole story as i'm already sure if you are reading this you must already know all the details. If not, then just turn on CNN,Fox News, MSNBC, ect...and I bet this mindless dribble is on RIGHT FUCKING NOW!

What's your opinion on this whole thing? What do you think the MEDIA's ultimate agenda is?

IMO I believe the media keeps playing on this shit because it hurts obama's chance of becoming president and that would suck very much so for the majority of the news corperations, companies, gov. positions, ect...which are all controlled by fascist, close-minded, neo-con, republicans.

Bottom line: The media plans to keep flinging shit until the populace believes it. This way the most liberal of candidates(Obama) amongst the 3 nominees will not be elected if the media's plan works(which I don't think it will) and the main reason this is happening is bc Obama has already 90% secured the democratic nomination.

Traditionally, protests and hell-raising work well, but peopole have to DO IT, not just talk about it....if this strategy had been implemented on the war on drugs, it would have been won ( by US) long ago.

There was a really good interview of Wright on Bill Moyers Journal (PBS...great show) a couple weeks ago. He seemed like a really smart, thoughtful man.

One interesting thing was that they showed more of the sermons that were cut up into sound bites. The one about the "chickens coming home to roost" was the most interesting because it was started by Wright explaining that he was watching a white man on Fox news the other day, then this is what he said... Although he quoted it to express his opinion, he was actually quoting someone who was being interviewed on Fox.

I think one of the main ways the the government affects media profits is by regulating them with the FCC. There used to be strict rules about how many radio/tv/newspapers a single company could own, especially within one market. These rules have been eroded for the last 20 years. Ben Bagdikian's book, The Media Monopoly provides a lot of insight into how this is happening.

It's a lot cheaper for "news" to just sensationalize and put up sound bites rather than real journalism. Commercial television gets almost all it's revenue from corporations which also favor less regulation for corporations.

One of the most important things for me is that we all as citizens should get to decide what the rules are and how our corporations are able to work. There are certainly a lot of rules that favor corporations and their rights to make money and hold onto their assets. And those that protect workers and individuals are slowly eroding.

Corporations are not really living entities, they are formed by what the regulations and rules are. Right now they are designed to favor making money over anything else. It is against the rules for a board to make a decision is not going to put more money into the shareholders. If they were living, they would be ruthless evil people.

Somewhere along the way, the rights of individuals to pursue happiness was transfered to the right for corporations to grow as big as they can and make as much money as they can. (I think there was actually a ruling where corporations were given rights in the 1800s, but I'm not sure...maybe someone knows who can post the info.) I think this is the fundamental flaw. It concentrates money into to the hands of a few while taking it from the masses.

I think this is especially evident in media corporations, but it happens in all industries.

This is one of the reasons I find it so confusing that people liked Ron Paul so much when he favors less (or no) regulation for corporations to an absurd level. I think he got a lot of supporters who are drug users by supporting legalization, and it's scary because in most other ways these people would be hurt by his policy.

The FCC is not elected, and really controls what corporations are allowed to do with the peoples' airways and other media. They are appointed by the president, so let's hope that Obama will have the balls to fix it. Bill Clinton didn't do a great job, and Obama isn't talking about it much, so I don't have a lot of hope.

But, I do agree that Obama will be a good choice in other areas, and may help to heal the country. I would much rather see him with the nomination than Hillary Clinton. However, it seems pretty obvious to me that the media in general is more friendly to Obama than Clinton, and that they are pretty much ignoring McCain. So....I think the coverage of Wright is more about ratings and making money immediately than directly trying to affect the outcome of the election.

There are a lot of things that he isn't addressing directly, but by my reading of the inferences, and watching the rippling waves of panic within the republican party, he's gonna do a lot....a lot....he's very close to the best we can hope for in these troubled times, and I LIKE THIS GUY......

I did enjoy the Clinton era, yes, but Hilary is more conservative than Bill, I believe, not much, but some, because as a Senator she'd had to be. Everyone knows that the Seanate is basically a country club for white guys. I know it is, anyway.

Hilary would be a good VP candidate for Obama, and I believe that together they could KO John McCain decisively in November in the popular vote.

It's a great time for me right now, because the chickens HAVE come home to roost. The eight years of Republican domination is over, regardless of what happens in November.....they can't pull any of that shit they did with Al Gore,
everyone that supports Obama AND Hilary is dying for them to try some shit like that this time around.

I definitely have hope for Obama. I think he could really heal the country.

I just don't have much hope for him doing the right things on preventing media monopolies by getting the right people into the FCC or pushing legislation, and, similarly, making sure digital rights protect the people's right to fair use rather than the corporations' right to make money.

I also get scared that he might get killed. I hope there's some pretty serious protesting if he does
