Last night I took salvia (5x extract) for the very first time. I took 2 big hits from a pipe with a normal lighter. I was noticing the effects immediately and laid down for a moment. My girlfriend, who did it about 20 minutes before me and was already back and was strong enough to act as my sitter, refilled the pipe. Meanwhile, I was under the impression that I was somewhere in a room, while people outside were preparing to go away to another place. I was filled with joy about the other place, but was unable to go with the others. It didn't occur to me at all that I took salvia, I just totally forgot. But gradually (it took about a minute) I was able to reconstruct reality, so I got up and took another big hit, holding it for as long as I can remember. By that time, the room was already tilted in such a way that I decided gravity was not something that you should take for granted. I laid on the bed again, this time rolling up my body. Apparently it was curled up along the vertical axis, creating some sort of vortex.
Most of the aspects of a textbook salvia trip were there:
1. I started seeing all kinds of elegant geometrical shapes. The thing was that I could change them at will and when my attention slipped away, I had to do some effort to reconstruct it the way I wanted it, because it had moved on without me. The shapes were more complex than with any other trip I ever had (shrooms, LSA, ayahuasca, deep meditation) and sometimes even combined into very detailed figures (black demons, whom I could counter with white shapes).
2. Time stretched and contracted. At one point I closed my eyes for about 15 minutes in my experience but it turned out to be only 2 in 'reality'. It was really weird.
3. Strange noises. I had a heightened awareness for noises from the street and the hallway and I heard voices from the other side of an imaginary wall (one was SCREAMING horror-movie style!).
4. I could move back and forth between things. This is the only trip in which I could actually go back to a vision I had before and fast forward as it were to the new visions.
All in all it was a very quick mindbogling trip. The effects came on after the second hit (T:+30s) and after the third (T:+1:30), I totally was gone out there. All the above effects were noticable at the same time, although not all were strong at the same time. After about ten minutes, I was slowly coming back, though the effects lasted for at least half an hour to forty five minutes after the initial ten. After an hour, I was ready to stand up and go to the toilet to take a pee. Took some food and then immediately went to sleep. No after effects, no hang-over. I did not go to the 'other side' though. Maybe next time...
