We should be able to hire and fire who we want, that is the whole idea of having your own business. Keep the employees that make you money and get rid of the ones that don't! Why do so many people have a problem with this idea?

I agree. I'm totally against some of the policies in my country that say that I HAVE to consider a certain person over another more qualified person because of their ethnic background. I actually had a prospective employee call me a racist because I didn't hire him, and his accusation was based on the fact that I didn't have an employee of his ethnic background working for me. I employ a very ethnically diverse group of people for those that were wonderin, but my business isn't the proverbial "melting pot". I hire those that are qualified and those that will WORK. As an owner of a small business, I feel it is my right to hire who I want. And if I want to discriminate for whatever reason (I don't, btw) I should be able to.
