An ayahuasca article in National Geographic magazine, too long to posted in its entirety here but an excellent read.

For centuries, Amazonian shamans have used ayahuasca as a window into the soul. The sacrament, they claim, can cure any illness. The author joins in this ancient ritual and finds the worlds within more terrifying—and enlightening—than ever imagined.

Getting worried, since I've seen a few aya articles pop up in the last few months, some in mainstream magazines. Problem is, where the media goes... so does political money and police following.

This article is pretty old, March 2006. Thanks for posting it again, though.

I think this simply proves that when a plant is solely used in a sacred context (religiously even, as in the Santo Daime church) it will not become a concern to police and politicians. I don't think ayahuasca will ever turn into a recreational drug like shrooms and salvia have.

P.S.: Since this is from 2006, shouldn't this article be moved to the "Ayahuasca, DMT" section?
