Tripping, the 4th dimension?

I always thought the 4th dimension would be the dream state, but now that I've been introduced into the world of tripping (although I haven't really tripped yet, just read lots about it), I'm thinking otherwise.

What do you guys think?
I think it's pretty safe to say that whilst tripping, you can reach worlds you haven't even dreamt of.

could be, i don't know if it's the 4th dimension, i mean who decides the dimensional positioning? we do, so if you say it's the 4th then it is! :wink:
and dreaming would be the 5th?
i'm not very inspired right now to answer this very interesting question, but yeah i totally agree that tripping opens doors to many worlds, but really my best trips have been without drugs, just with laugh, and love, and friendship, and imagination, and dreams...
seems to me that you BridgeUnder already perceive those trippy worlds even without tripping!

(my explinations about the planes/realms isn't 100% right, but at this time i can't get everything on one line)

in the astral realm alone are allready manymany worlds. through psychedelics you can achieve going to the astral plane, but in your way to pure planes and losing body and mind so in the fine planes only soul stays, astral is just the beginning. there are uncounterable many dimensions, but of more heavy and grove shabd/energy. every chakra has it's own worlds. we need a master (like shaman in rituals) not to get lost in worlds.

It is pretty safe to say that tripping opens the "doors" to your mind, but it is not a new physical dimension.
The 4th dimension of our persivable universe is time as daddy Eintstein thought us. There are new theories saying that there are more dimensions than we know off, but theese extra dimensions are so extremly small that if they exist they have avoided detection even in the most sofisticated experiments so far.

The fact that that theese extra dimensions are so small, and so hard to detect goes to show that the fact of there existance, if they do, has litle implications in how our world acts in the plane we live in. So no, the 4th dimesion is not a dream state.

P.S. I would recomend the book "Einstein's Universe" by Nigel Calder to anyone that wants to learn some weird truth. The book is not too long and its just as psycadelic as mushrooms. :nod:

The first 3 dimension's are spacial dimensions (3d), The 4th dimension is time. All events that occur can be labeled in these dimensions (It happend "here" at that certain "time"). These are also the dimensions we live in. We cannot sense, or detect other dimensions or anything that occurs in other dimensions, not saying they don't exist, but WE do not exist in those other dimensions.

This is very hard to explain just like that... accually, it's impossible to explain a complicated problem with a simple explaination.

If you want to know more about these subject's, I'd suggest reading books like "A Brief History Of Time" by Stephen W. Hawking.


I must say I had the same kind of idea's as BridgeUnder has. In the beginning when I started using psychedelics I also experianced it as "visiting" another dimension. This isn't really true, allthough you do experiance it as "real". But then again, what is "real"? I always thought the world was "real" as I always saw the world in it's normal form. I discovered that when you start tripping, it's not the world around you that changes, it's the world inside you that changes. Your senses act diffirently than normal, so you percieve the world around you as a diffirent world, making it look like another dimension.

Then again, this is how it feels to me, I'm not trying to tell you the way it is, only the way I interpret it. Maybe someone else would like to share his or her view on this issue 8)

Interesting theories.
My thought on the subject is that our "soul" or "ghost inside the machine" or "spirit" or whatever you call it is in another dimension only that dimension we can not percieve conscious so you only experience this "reality"
Only on (for example) DMT I think you can go there.
Ok you might think that that world comes from your own mind on drugs, but why does everybody keep ending up in the same place, we'll not litterely everybody but I've read a lot of stories of the 360 degree view and the beings that make objects with their "voices" and the elves and I saw those things to (before I ever read of them...)
So that's kind of weird.
And I believe I experienced the global unconsciousness of the world, all the ideas, thoughts and knowledge.
Unfortunatelly was not able to take any of that information back, but it was amazing.
Ofcourse I can never ever prove it actually was, but in the end I felt myself privileged to have experienced those things.

Thanks first of all to Entheonaut for the great reply, his answer is a pretty good sumation of anything i can say about dimensions and time. I have not read the book that he recomended but i have seen the documentary with the same name and that is the documentary that turned me over to science.

This too is a good sumation of how my view of realty has changed and to what it has changed into.

goes, i think what you experience is the potetial of what your mind can create rather than my unconsciusness.

I have had experiences similar to that and i think that has to do with how your mind interpets information and that if you would ever try anything supernatural like that in a controled experiment you would as always get nothing.

Here on earth, in our lives, time is perceived as linear, out of our control. In other way, you can surf the space, walking, moving, and enjoy 3d life experience.

Between lives i believe things are switched, space gets constant and still and is time that you can surf and understand as a variable useful dimension.

in space/time (here), you normally don't control time and use you space mobility to experience life, to act, do things, suffer, learn, etc

in time/space, between lives, you know everything, as all times are there in this one moment, and space moving is impossible... this way you can grasp all of your lives, fully understand them and decide where/when/how to come back to life's teaching school

4th dimension (time) is incredibly dificult to grasp and understand, yet is very powerful to bring the illusion down IMO.
Tha Mayan knew a lot about it... we are learning again!

What is switched for who?

You say that we can surf in time between lifes and that doubt thats true. Evry event and interaction that is causing your consciousness are in this universe and in your brain, following the known laws of physics. And the fact that i tripp when i eat mushrooms and it affects my consciousness the way it does shows to me that my consciousness is created by my brain and not a ghost that is simply using my body as a ride.

As far as learning about space and time i would suggest that you read about Einsteins Special- and General theory of relativity rather than Mayan mythology. Those theories give an almost perfect description of the universe above atomlevel and are part of the reason why Einstien is so famus.

Time is the 4th dimension in a way; it has everything to do about relativity. It limits how fast information forces and you may travel in our Universe. What you see in your day to day life is actually the "past" catching up to you. It may not seem like it but that’s because light (and forces) seems instantaneous, but it's not. It has a finite speed that’s constant in any reference frame.

In your day to day life you can assume something is where it is because the speed of light is much greater then the speed of any car, bullet or anything with a considerable amount of mass (anything you can see basically.) But if you look off into space and view a star 10,000 light years away, you’re actually seeing it how it was 10,000 years ago. It may not even exist anymore but you wouldn't know that nor could you. So if you saw it go "Super Nova" you would know it happened 10,000 previous. However if you had the unfortunate luck to be right next to it, you would almost instantaneously.

Also you could only time travel if you went faster then the speed of light. But that’s imposable, how can an object with mass travel faster then light with no mass? After all it would take an infinite amount of energy to accelerate a mass to the speed of light. Einstein proved all of this, and that’s why he's so famous. Everyone used to think that it was respect to some either field, but it was never detected and it became obsolete once light was proved to have a constant velocity in any reference frame.

Once you get objects close to the speed of light weird shit happens, Super Luminal motions (which is an optical illusion), time dilation (moving clocks move slow, they had to account for this in GPS systems), and length contraction to name a few. It makes you think that even what we think is 3D is probably wrong.

Come to think of it, I was wrong with my first comment as I also think now that time is the 4th dimension, hallucination being the 5th one then. Or consciousness. Space - time - consciousness : but ofcourse each person probably has his own little theory about this.
