Curiosity has overtaken me, and I took some clippings of just leaves from an Arborvitae, the original thujone, and placed them in a boiling home-made distillery. I ran a tube out through a milk jug packed with ice to condense and let what I could drip into a cup. So... what have I got? Thujone, what I was hoping for, in a liquid form? Or poison? Anyone know what I did? I know, I know, I am kinda tripping along without knowledge, and I haven't taken any chemistry, but I have it, sitting here... and Idk what to do with it. It sure smells like thujone... Anyone else tried this? Anyone smarter that could tell me what I have? Every bit of research says Thujone is found in wormwood. oh, and alot of other plants as well... So for scientific purposes, have I got what I want?
