I've had a few introductory experiences with salvia, yet none of the earth-shattering 5-10 minute trips that people describe.
So far any time I've tripped on salvia I've had to let go, relax, close my eyes and just allow the trip to come to me. It reminds me a LOT of the mental state you are in just before falling asleep, sort of dreamlike and erratic. Some times I have had fairly lush closed-eye visuals, and every time it has been more of a body trip (my body felt like it was being pulled, or becoming something else, like a creature, a bird, etc). As an example one time I was listening to the ORB (orbus terranum) and when I closed my eyes I saw a towering totem pole-like bird creature flowing across my vision, I stood up with my eyes closed trying to follow its movement, and when I sort of regained my awareness I was mimicking its motion, opening and closing my mouth like a bird.
The only open-eyed effects I've ever had are momentary distortions of textures.. different than LSD where you see fractals, more of a strange rolling, twisting distortion that effects peripheral vision and fades after a few minutes...
Just curious as to how many people do smaller amounts of salvia and experience these sort of short, relaxed body trips.. or if this is say comparable to what you would experience doing the quid method.. i find it interesting because salvia has a reputation that you have to do a certain amount before you trip, but it seems it can be experienced at different levels of intensity..
