aren't those seeds heat treated so they wont grow anymore?

i dont think so. maybe some. years ago i spread them everywhere i went and they were all viable. there was one field i was scared to return to because it looked like the farmer was growing - it was 40% poppy

what you can do is buy the seed from supermarkets, health food stores etc. look at the country of origin for clues. "product of India" is good, Afghanistan is a sure bet etc. find out which countries are producing poppy straw for the pharma. market, the seed is a byproduct. i would guess any black poppy seed would be a byproduct of the poppy straw industry

sorry Restin, i dont understand

I sometimes have problems in communication I read the package and it is written: this strain comes from some mountains in switzerland....ergo it is a local strain. What's funny is, that it is written that it was used for oil but I don't think that there is any psychoactive indication here.

I will first use some local strain, I heard that this contains enough "stuff" in it. I will look for some specified strains nonetheless but I plant both. I will plant them now.

So, the next questions:

- When I have the latex, does it need special refinement to result in smokable opium?

- Should I grow them in a greenhouse = more light+warmth = more potency/better growth?

- Is one seed per pot enough or should there I put in more?

they would love e greenhouse. if you plant in pots make sure they have 45cm soil depth.

once you have collected the latex and dried it it is smokable. if you collect enough you could simmer the black opium in water to remove the latex scum that forms on the surface

For the time when they germinate and get a bit larger and then re-plant them.

They are to small . The best plants are planted in autum and give their opium when the petals fall off . They dont like being transplanted . It doesnt matter if they fall over .

I didnt mean to say one shouldnt transplant them , i just meant that they dont like it as they have very delicate roots .

I thought about it, yes. No growing at home.

It is a nice day, warm, it is spring, I am happy and I am gonna look for some nice place for my poppies. It's not easy to find uncultivated, open land, only forests or cultivated land. I will nonetheless look for some placed a bit further away. Wish me luck.

The other worry I have is being watched while collecting the latex (I probably will just cut off the top of the flowers, it's faster).

These that I will plant today are a local strain, maybe not too strong but hopefully enough.

thanks, you're a darling. I already "planted" (question below) some but I will make some photos. There are still a lot of brown leaves on the ground OR the ground looks very cultivated. It is quite difficult to find some place. I will take some pics tomorrow.

Questions go into the next round

1) You already told me that when planting them in pots to put a cover of soil over the seeds. Is it the same outside or can I just "throw" them onto the ground and they will "sink" automatically?

2) 1 seed = 1 plant? Because they are extremely small and I somehow doubt that :wink:

You already answered a lot of questions which I am really thankful for but I am still too stupid to undertand everything - and I want to do everything right - so sorry for that :wink:
