after reading on another board an oldtimer in the growing section, a friend re used his soil mix and was suprised,

yields never suffered at all.

just under 1 gram per watt, like usual, 8 plants per 600w light.

thats fed on miracle grow, very lightly max nute strength was 1000ppm in week 5-6, +boosters

so he went, miracle grow, added big bud week 2 +3 +4 +5 then overdrive week 6 + 7+ 8. flush week 9

sensizym was added only 10ml per 10litres nute solution throughout. ph maintained 6.4 to 6.8

they was watered every two days, nute one time.. miss the next day.. phed water... miss next...nute...miss...water..and so on

i thought it was pretty good considering reusing the soil, and the cheapness of the nutes, + fairly low numbers of plants.

what kinda regime your friends put their plants through?

when i was a pup, i was told never to re-use the growing medium(ie coco) because it's possible that bad bugs have layed their next gen eggs in your medium and are waiting for their dormant conditions to maximize spawning and then ----it's all on and ya crop has been compromised. Although, another geezer told me to just pour boiling water thru ya buckets(after cropping) and ya good to go.
personally- if i was growing top qual tomatoes -i'd never compromise my babies with old medium.
Just my two cents worth.
peace

yeh course your right, i was just more than suprised they did as well as they did.

it wasnt possible to try a third time for the exact reasons you mention, pest buildup, even eradicating them might have left a disease prone soil.
