Hello,

I've got a problem with my Salviaplant.
A week or 2 ago my potted plant fell from my windowsell.
A branch broke off because of this, and another one is broken but hanging "on a thin wire".
I made sure the first branch could grow roots, and I planted it today.
But i'm not sure what to do with the other since it's hanging on such a thin wire.

I hope you can see the problem on the photos and tell me what to do.

Cheers..

Are my pictures too blurry that i don't get comments?

hrm, looks like its in trouble, your probably going to lose it, but I guess you could try to support it - get a stick or cane and tie it to the leaf end.

I'm not an expert on salvia, so I'm not to sure, but would it be possible to mak e a cutting of it - if its left as it is, it's probably going to die.

Yes i can definetely make a cutting or even a couple of cuttings of it.

But it's been like this for a week or 2 now if i'm not mistaken and the plant still hasn't shown any effects of not getting food.
I'm just wondering if i can fix the snapped part. (it's still hanging on by a thin wire).

Taking into consideration that its stayed alive this long, I would still do a cutting personally - even if the leaf is getting enough water / nutrients to stay alive, it's probably not contributing much to the survival of the main stem - this would be proved wrong if there are buds of growth starting to appear on the main stem - if so, then it's probably worth proping up the broken leaf and hoping it:
a) heals
or
b) lives long enough to supply food for the growing buds

I've attached a picture of a plant splint to give you an idea of what to do if you choose to prop the broken section up.

here's a web site you might want to search on for tips:
http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/

hope it helps - let us know what you choose, and how it goes.

Goodluck

Since the branch is not thick enought to prope it, i'm propably gonna make cuttings off of it.
And also because you say that if the mainstem doesnt make new buds, which isn't the case.

Thx, i will post more pics this weekend of what i've done.
