Peyote growing problems?

Hi guys,

I've been growing cacti from seeds for a year now, and planted some peyote seeds last summer as well. They did well for a pretty long time, but 3 or 4 weeks ago I started to notice some color changes. I've seen the same on my San Pedro babies, but I was able to recover them fully by some more watering and giving them more fresh air.

They peyote's are kinda reddish. I don't know what's wrong with them, are they sick?
I really hope someone can help me with this, since winter is coming up and I don't want them to become weaker and weaker since they will go to sleep.

Arlight, first thing every cacti grower knows, is that too much sun will cause ur cacti to 'burn' and turn red. Get your peyote out of direct sun right now!. Use sometype of shading so the sun is diffused. I use parchute paper. It is diffuses the sun so it does not recieve harsh light. If your cacti turn light green, they are not recieveing enough light. They should be a darker green. Any more questions feel free to ask

thought of that, but i live in Holland. The sun is pretty weak here, so I don't think it'll burn that easy. Plus, the container is half closed by a lid which diffuses the sunlight.
It might be the problem, though it'd seem rather strange to me.
It's on a warmth mat, might that be the problem? I've used it for some time now on different seedlings and babies but none of them reacted like this.
I just find it strange that out of 3 containers(2 other San Pedro's) under the exact same circumstances , 1, the peyote gets reddish.

Yah, I live in Canada where to sun is even weaker. Mine are also on a heating mat, which is good, keep doing that. That is not causing the redness. Some peyotes react differently than others. Are they big enough to transplant, aka how old are they?If they are a year old, I would recommond transplanting the red one into a seperate pot with regular cactus soil, and keeping that one even further out of the sun. Sometimes even diffusing the light is not enough. Make sure they are out of direct sunlight, like 100% out of direct sunlight until they get older and stronger. Also is your lid like "frosted", or completly clear. If its clear than it is not really diffusing the light to much.

It sounds like to much light to me to , peyote should never stand in direct sun light . In mexico they grow under bushes . When they are babys they can take much more water than when they are older . The most dificult stage of growth is hardening them off . I used to have mine covered with a sheet of news paper over the grow box . And like all babys not all of them come through .

thanks for your help guys...they're in a more shady spot of the room now, so I hope they'll recover.

thats weird the same thing happend to my peyote.......turned red.......
i just placed it in a cooler spot with little sun and BAM! came back within a week......

they're already doing better! the reddish shade is retreating and they're turning to a little more darkish green.. great to see this happen
once they're fully healthy again I'll make some pics
