outdoor growing from spring to end of summer?

Ok i was just wondering what soil is most recomended for outdoor growing inside a 5gallon bucket in the ground. any help would be great. thanks

Potting mix, and a little perlite.

what exactly is the reason for the pearlite?

it aso stops the compost compacting if watered from the top-roots need air-and gives good insulation importaint if you get cold nights. slugs dont like it much either!
