Newbie Extract questions

No . All i was talking about is the diference between an Acid / Base and Base extraction .

For someone who lives somewhere where chemicals are hard to get i think a straight Base extraction would be better .

I have a question. I do not own a pH meter, and I just finished adding NaOH to the solution of extracted Mimosa Hostilis. They say as the pH rises, it will turn from grey to dark black. I watched to turn from grey, and then added more NaOH solution, and it turned black. Is the pH high enough just because it has turned black? I do not have time, nor the money to purchase a pH meter. I also, like an idiot, shook the jar instead of slowly stirring it, so it will take a long time to settle out. How long do you think it will take for the emulsion to settle out? Also what should I be looking for? An orange/pink color?

Use red beet juice: below pH 11 it is red and at pH 12 and above it colors yellow.
Or calculate your pH.
