N,N DMT mimosa extraction failure...?

SWIM recently informed me of a mimosa "straight-to-base" extraction he did awhile back which he says may have been a complete failure. He said that although he ended up with pure white crystals at the end and he assures me that his chemistry is dead on accurate that it takes him A LOT of spice to feel anything(only a light body high, slight visuals, nothing intense,ect...) SWIM cannot figure out what the problem is? Although this is his first extraction of this sort it's sad to say he may have wasted over 200g of root bark for close to a 0.9 grams of white powder which ineffectively does not work at all!! what else could this white powder be? SWIM is pretty certain it's DMT but it won't produce any effects...SWIM could even smoke half a gram of this stuff and still not feel anything. WHAT THE HELL COULD BE GOING WRONG?! lol thanks.

I wouldn't trust straight to base extraction because my feeling says the DMT is deprotonated and will more likely stay in the plant material.

it was "Norman's DMT Extraction for the Masses" with a couple tweaks here and there. for example the ammonia wash was skipped because the end result after the naphtha pull(which was 100% pure MSDS grade naphtha btw and not shitty lighter fluid with benzene and whatnot in it) resulted in mostly pure white and some off-white-yellowish crystalline powder. Besides that everything else mentioned was followed exactly according to the tek. Maybe it's being smoked wrong or something. Although the flame never touches the spice and it melts after awhile the followed freebased smoke does nothing psychedelic whatsoever. a friend tested it out(who is an extreme psychonaut in my eyes) and braved to smoke nearly a quarter of a typical cannabis bowl of the spice with little effect. he took at least 20-30 hits before he gave up. nothing at all except slight relaxed body high, slight perceptual feelings, and a few other minor things. however i should mention that he once smoked no more than a pinch or two of remaining melted crystals in the pipe unknowingly(from the same batch) and started to get minor hallucinations for 15-20 min such as moving walls, and geometric lines(laser red he said) behind his eyes. the smoke is really smooth believe it or not lol and it's def. a really white fluffy smoke. i'm stumped as hell....??? is it DMT? is it not? what wrong in this picture? ...another person tried the same batch and said he was "tripping balls" off a pinch or so for about 10 minutes...no hyperspace though.

N-O-M-A-N realy knows what he is talking about . He has helped me several times . If the crystals smell like something between mothballs and burning plastic you have DMT . Smoking pure crystals is not supposed to be very effective . Test it by eating 50 mgs plus a MAOI , like 3 g. of Peganum Harmala , and see what happens . If you had the right starting materials it can only be DMT ( mixed with other tryptamines ) , the wash after the extraction only cleans it up , so its not realy necesery .

yeah that's right "Noman's" tek...my bad. it def. smells like a mix of mothballs crossed with some form of plastic-ness to it HANDS DOWN. actually the smell of it instantly reminds me of my grandma's house when i was a kid for some odd reason haha. i wonder if 30mg or so(about an estimated pinch or two) could be effective if you were to blow it. erowid says it's a possible route but still rather smoke, or blow it before taking it with a mightly MAOI for a pharmayascua experience mainly bc of associated fasting with it and such.

FOLLOWUP...about an hour ago a friend tried this batch of spice by railing one giant line of this stuff. it was probably the size of about 4 quarters put side to side in length with all the spice scraped up very close together. it was very large because he thought it was bad spice and wouldn't work. needless to say within a minute he was tripping harder than he ever has in his whole life. i should mention that this person undertook the spice experiment bc he has a sort of "drug elitist" attitude since he has done more substances than most people I can think of and that NOTHING can make him over-intense. instead this time for about 30 minutes he was puking nonstop, spoke very little, and was totally(at least from my perspective and another sitter's viewing) far far deep down tripping. in the end he said it was a life-changing experience and was very difficult at the time to process(but not a bad trip in his opinion) and that this DMT batch WAS NOT A DUD, period. He also mentioned he learned a lesson: saying "it was naive to jump into such an unknown amount headfirst". He said it was "indescribable" and that "it was so intense I thought my brain was gonna melt from no more than 10 seconds of it", time was nonexistant, and that he had no control over his thoughts, or anything for that matter(except from time to time he would come back to consciousness and move his head just a little to throw up and say "how much longer?"). The batch is def. real, legit spice. thanks to everyone for the feedback tho.
