At the end of the summer I was lucky enough to be gifted some pretty high-grade cannabis seeds, they were all from the same Jack Herer mother, she was a 14 week beast chosen specifically for structure, crossed with pollen from three different Indica dads, among them blueberry and hindu kush genes, targeting that 14 week flower time.

The seeds were sprouted, it took an overnight soak an 3 days to do it, and out of 25 initial seeds, we got 22 seedlings. These were divided into two lots; 'A' and 'B.

The A were the ones we suspected as being hindu kush and blueberry fathered and the B was another fast indica which we were seeking to isolate from the other two.

The A had traits such as: all were tall, branchy, with two main types of phenos, one was a columnar, and one was a sprawler.

'A' flower time ranged from a few being ready at 8-9 weeks, and some could have went 12-14, as would be expected considering mother.

B traits were that they were even taller, and the buds were huge, pineapple shaped beasts. Two phenos again, one of them leafy and big with serious resin production, serious serious resin that would shut the scissors down, and the other a branchy monster with giant buds and serious resin.

B flower time was slightly shorter than 'A', as the B dad was a pure indica, but faster than the Kush, which is an 8 week plant.

Smells- 'A' trays smelled like Haze dominant smells all, catpiss, mango, sweet and sour, bud crystals were extreme.

'B' tray is more of a 'classic' smell, weedy and rich, pine and skunk and fruit-funk, the resin was about the best (worst, that shit got everywhere.....have you ever got resin in your eyes? omg) I have seen, extremely gummy.

OK, so on to details-

Grow style- Hydroponic, rockwool, flood and drain style, 4 x 4 trays w/ reservoirs (40 gallon) rockwool cubes go into slabs. I am changing to cocotek and myco fungi after one more rockwool grow.

Total light was 5000 watts, 4 HPS HOrtilux and 1 MH Blue spectrum

Flood time was once daily in veg and twice daily peak at flower

The seedlings were planted and grown for 6 weeks when one showed sex, a male, it was summarily executed by strait razor.

We cloned everything as soon as pre-flowers showed on the females, and then another male showed and got terminated. Both of these males was in the 'B' side

At this time, if I remember, we had 20 plants alive and thriving, all female....well.....we thought.....a late, hazy male showed up (B again, we didnt get any males from the 10 'A' plants) and actually was able to release a flower of pollen, he was super short and way under the by-this-point huge canopy

(he was a straggler that one of the other partners wanted to try to keep alive...lesson learned; be ruthless and kill everything that isnt great)

so....we used GH 3-part series nutrients and no additives during flower. At first we used the directions to guide us as to how much plant food to use...I quickly noticed symptomology of over-fertilization. So I talked the others into a trip to the hydro store and we got an EC-ppm-ph pen......the ec was so high the meter couldn't read it when we made ferts by GH directions.

There was a bit of confusion here because another grower runs a lot of popular strains in his op, and uses insanely high amounts of ferts like I described.....his plants make it too.....however, most of them are pure or mostly pure indicas, and he told me himself that the clones were perpetuated in his circle 'because they were tough', in his words.

This is the local guru.

So...I told the senoir partner that we were going to kill our plants if we didnt alter this......we found with the pens help that these plants were verrry sativa in their feeding habits, they liked about 500 ppm, NOT the 1600+ which was derived when following GH directions TO THE LETTER. For once, I will spare you all the industry rant. Just this one time. :)

In flower they took up to 1000 ppm briefly, but were happy at 900 for most times.

The medium needed to be flushed frequently, which we did w/ 10% solution. Every single time we flushed them we noticed an improvement. On my personal grow at a smaller non-com scale, I would flush every other day.

We had several little problems, most of them minor, these guys use open reservoirs and deal with evaporative losses screwing with the ec/ppm/ph....they were allowing algae to grow on the blocks.....the usual.

We harvested Xmas day and they are drying now, we hope to sample something soon.

more as I get it

the stretch stopped just in time! lol
be some nice heavy set colas on there can tell even from the early pic..
betya cant wait for the dry/cure when every huff is a smooth long face warming toke! :D

smoke report-

I smoked some....

....

....

....

it's good,lol.

the smell is mild, the potency is very good....our yield is working out to be .8g/ watt (4500 watts), not bad considering things were imperfect, and these were from seed.

The flavor- mild, spicy...sour catpissy....earthy pine. We had almost 20 separate F1 plants, so a lot of individuals. We haven't sampled them all yet, but I am on the job.
The smell- variable, from spicy to sweet and sour to earthy.
The high- cerebral and immediate

I got so high off half a joint that I started feeling a band across my head....it was real weird.

I have been smoking all the local stuff, and have a high tolerance. This stuff is really good.

ooh man ur lucky
someone i know used to grow JH, its sooooo good dude
only the thing is after a few harvests it went hermaphrodite and the buds were JAM PACKED with seeds
but for the like 3 batches of it, maaaaan its was BOOTZ BOOTZ! powerful stuff
the first time i tried it, it was reaaallly psychedelic, had mild visuals and it kicked my cunt, had to sit down and this was during my big stoner period (smoking for years)
it was hydro as well

enjoy buddy

This is some of the finest herb I have ever had.

It is easily top 3 of everything I have ever seen.....I had a high tolerance too, smoking sour diesel and durban and kush all day long, but none of them are remotely like this stuff.....this shit is the shizzzzzz-izzlle, my nizzle.

The high is intense and electric and all mental, there is no indica detectable, I suppose because of all the thoroughbred sativas in there, but I've never had weed that gave me a mindburn like this stuff.....it's an awesome, super, strong.......ahhhh

Back in the 70's when I was a teenager (no it wasnt like that 70's show) the weed that was around was mexican-central american-colombian sativas exclusively, there was a bountiful time (fall and winter) then it got less as it got hotter, then nothing in summer... this was before the advent of indica genetics into the commercial mexican production teams repertoires, when they only got one sativa harvest a year. But the potency of those types of weed was unparalleled and has been long, long gone, just a memory, until now.

There are 16 distinct F1 plants, each packaged and divided separately.....each of these plants has a consistency in smell and high, but yet small, subtle variations. Some are outright hazy and strong, others mellow and floaty......

I am still testing.......I'll come back and write more when I am not so stoned....

muaahahahha

lol lemme see.. testing 16 distinct plants.. then just been sure and testing again..
seeya in a few weeks

your ppm checks spice, once youd sorted evaporation problem from open res, and got a steady falling ppm from day to day, what ppm reduction in the res over 24 hours showed a thriving plant?
(ah shit ive just realised a basic flaw in my question, the amount the ppm goes down by is proportionate to the size/litres of the resovoir :| + the amount nute litres plants drink in 24 hours..)
it would be specific to your grow setup, the ppm drop.. but it could be calculated to "per litre"
ive never seen anywhere in a grow manual/guide/thread giving such an indication, moreof a blind, increase by X amount each week. where a more accurate method could be determined like above.. what u think?
it could take guesswork out of strains which differ a lot in the nute strength they like best.

i noticed you said they showed vigourous growth after a flush, (when i used to use rockwool slabs i found i got salts buildup in them the ppm was higher in them than the nutrient solution and concluded probably incorrectly this was why. @week 4-5 flower toxic buildup symptoms would be showing on the plant, id flush once every 5-7 days from wk 3 onwards to prevent it) im just curious if it could be that, or if the plant itself having a chance to expell excess/bad nute it contains via its roots.
i cant think of the actual mechanism, but i mean the plant has higher nute/salts content in its water, than the water surrounding the roots during the flushes the unwanted excess/shit would be pushed out of the plant?

i got vigourous growth @ 24-48 hours after flush and nute change in dwc, and hydro minus the rockwool so it may just be fresh nutes been good.. im not sure.

Yeah there is a bit of a medium specific learning curve here. Rockwool is an extremely growth friendly medium, I do like that aspect of it but there are some things about it, such as that build up.....I guess though, when it is so easy to fix everything by just flushing, that the slight tendency to build up really isnt a big deal.

I wasn't running this grow completely, there were other cooks ( and too many) in the kitchen, but I was able to clear up the basic problems that developed with some common sense and a little chemistry.....also, it seems that we have a bit of a magnesium deficiency in our fert regimen, I think that the epsom salts will be sufficient, even tho I considered magnesium nitrate/phosphate, I don't need enough magnesium to warrant that, plus the slight additional sulfur should be good.

I intend to use Botanicare ZHO, which is a mycorrhizae fungi, this time, along with a supplement of mgso4.

The plants transpired a lot of water, the basement they were grown in was pretty dry, so an aim to increase humidity will be implemented.

I am really happy with the quality of the bud though.

^^^^ . .. agreed. ban that asshole and delete all his/her posts.
