Hello, nice to be here, this is my first post. This forum has somewhat relationship with the team that made the film psychonauts, no?? Very likeable and interesting film...
Well, on to the topic.
Goran.Hrsak>> Well, if you search carefully enough on the web, you will find that many experienced [experienced with the so called classic psychedelics, that is] 'trippers' had underestimated Salvia's power until they had the first true experience. Most say that it's totally impossible to describe the actual experience. I don't necessarily feel that it is so difficult to describe - but of course what each user could make out of it is hard to predict. Many self-called hardheads were unnerved by Salvias power, and please know, whatever you're seeking, that dissociatives act in a total different way than the so called classic psychedelics [lsd, psilocybe, etc] *
It's nice that you emphasise on the individual factor, and that what's applicable to one, might not be applicable or useful to another. So on to the suggestions and practical matter:
1) The matter of the sitter is really as important or more, as others have suggested. That is, for the first experiences, especially the more intense ones. You can skip the sitter part in your low dose expereriences or if you get familiar with the plant later on, but you can't really be sure about doses at first. Most people will be blown off or at least have very definate effects from a pinch of x5, if they smoke it properly. Salvia is an anesthesic, and it helps to see it as such. If you get too high and for some reason the body decides to move, you won't be knowing it, as in higher doses the conciousness is partly or totally lost. Nor will you be experiencing the pain if you're cutting your self with something without knowing it!
2) The dose. It's true that there is reverse tolerance in salvia, and it's true that getting accustomed to salvia space, learning to navigate through it is a proceedure that usually takes several trips or varying intensity, actually NOT unlike the classic psychedelic experience, but maybe even more so. Most salvianauts, after experimenting with 5-10-20 extracts return to plain leaf, self made x3 or x5. Like others said, make sure you smoke it right - and if the leaf isn't enough for you, get 5 , 10 , or 20, not that shit 40 or 80 they're selling! Don't get really enthusiastic about the amount you will smoke. x20 will be 20 times more potent than plain leaf, and if you haven't been to level 5 [from SALVIA scale] you can't really imagin what this means. Oh, the SCALE is only useful at the first experiences to see what you can expect.
3] I noted an important phrase from some post in page 2:
This was what I talking about. You can't find easy someone who will be near if something gone wrong and also undetectable. I have XP so many low (not bad just low) trips cause someone was pain in the ass while you are going trough ego death. Starts to build me paranoia or weird disturbing thoughts! This is why I do not like sitter. And 10 years with psydelic drugs gives you enough control in ego death experiences. One thing only I can't control, Fall out of body into 'astral', 'ethereal' or many worlds where my energy exists without body.
bold are mine
Then think twice my friend, because Salvia is very capable of doing exactly this, what I put in bold, or something like this. The phrase 'the only thing I can't control' shows a bit of arrogance, if you ask me, well, justified or not, hear me:
you can't control an intense Salvia high, and if the low doses reminded you of an unpleasant cannabis high, than don't smoke much of any extract the first time

Go easy on it, especially if you decide to do it without a sitter, after all.
Now, my turn:
Have you ever been on amanitas, ketamine, dxm, pcp ?? [class of dissociatives]
