help me please...the tek i used worked great up till the freeze for three days then filter part... im using naphta and frooze for 3 days and had lots of spice in the jar.. the next part turned into a nightmare.. i proceeded to filter into a funnel and coffee filter.. the spice was there.. but seemed to melt and evap into nothing.. left a stain on the filter ..no crystals .. nothing... seemed to melt away.... i currently am letting the stained filter soak for refreezing .. hoping to salvage some spice.. but for my next batch ... should i evap down then freeze then filter.. or go straight to evap with no freeze .. or does the drying temp matter..... how can i avoid this again.. is there a preferred way to get the spice from the naptha... my spice melted away and i dont want to lose the next batch... thanks in advance for your help and support ...

I haven't been into pure extractions, but, afaik, filtering is usually done before the reduction, as to filter the least concentrated concoction possible.

I actually never filtered. I just decanted the liquid. The crystals where stuck to walls.

I think you doing well already by putting the filter already in the freezer. You have to work fast of course cause when it warms up a little it will dissolve again in the naphta, it wont dissapear into nothing. So don't throw anything away, just rinse your filter with more naphta so you get everything back, evaporate and start again.

It's also important that you dissolve everything in hot naphta and uss as less as possible, so the solution is supersaturated.

You can also let everything evaporate slowly into the air, the nice crystals will form first and the oils will stay in the bottem.

If you are doing and good defat this purification-process maybe isn't even neccessary.
