Actually, all the civilization as we know as begun because of food, and it's excess. In the early times, the money did not exist, but we already traded food... it's a soo big problem that can't be resumed to money. But we all should be free to do what we want with our body and our mind.

I just remembered something written in Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy.. Some people came to a planet and started a colony there. They decided that the leafs from the trees would be considered as money. So, people started to gather huge amounts of leafs, all they could get. The wise solution was that they decided to burn all the forests in that planet.
A funny piece, but i still see so much truth in that. The human kind have always tried, but have always been unable to think of correct solutions to problems made by themselves. (or ourselves..)
