I don't think Exxon is more evil then all other big companies that make you a slave of their product and get rich over the backs of poor people... AND destroy the earth while they're at it.

The laywers who are defending Exxon in every case, are the same who represented the tabacco industry back in days with first the lobby that said that inhaling smoke wasn't harmful, and later the same with second hand smoke.
In both cases they lost after, but their intention is attempting to extend the duration before political steps are taken. "Purchasing time", in business terms.

If they posted record profits this past quarter, (they did) breaking the old record ( which they had set last year), and with oil at the 100 dollar a barrel mark, which is SUPPOSED to be the reason gas is so high....
How does this work?
Because gas is a MIXTURE of straight-chain alkanes, and not all of what we know as 'gasoline' is derived directly from crude oil.
Ponder the implications of that statement. Better yet, contact a real petroleum chemist and ask him directly, the way I'd grill his ass if he were here at this site. They can't lie, if you ask the right questions, people. No one is asking, is all.
They NEED us to think that, though, so we can't apply legitimate pressure on them, they just blame them 'damn arabs' and lobby bush harder to drill in the artic, and pay lots and lots of pseudo-scientific whores to spread junk science.

In 1933, the Fischer-Tropsch process was invented, and it has been optimized exhaustively over the years, using waste byproducts from other petrochemical processes as feedstock ( precursors).
What the reaction does that is so special is that it allows for the CREATION of synthetic fuels from two easily obtainable sources;
HYDROGEN
&
CARBON MONOXIDE.........

Yet we are programmed, from childhood, to look the other way, and act like they should be held to another standard of accountability.

Every other industry is doing exactly the same; Exxon is more transparent because their excessively relied upon by the world’s petrochemical consumers or other industries and this gives further emphasis on them to devise increasingly deceitful schemes to hide their blatant abuse of people and the planet. Anyone with trust in a corporation must have absolute faith in their life, and the lives of everyone they know, as more important than the almighty dollar; a delusion that will only be met with betrayal.

Exxon are sneeky back stabing bastards . The Venezuelan government is taking action to stop foreign oil companys exploiting the Venezuelan oil resources and the Venezuelan peopel . They offered compensation but Exxopn refused it and have just obtained court orders in England and America freezing 12,000,000,000,000$ in Venezuelan bank acounts .
I saw that yesterday on CNN....

The Exxon representative that was speaking to congress kept emphasizing that the price of a gallon of gas was completely representative of, and reflective of, the price of a barrel of oil.
He hammered on this point incessantly, as he has to, to keep their dirty little secret.......it's NOT completely dependent on what OPEC charges per barrel, but we HAVE to be kept in the dark about it
or there really will be some problems. It's easy for them to do this,too,
since most people shun chemistry and physics like a disease.
Unfortunately, most of the people that understand this are working for the dark side, and the others , well, they aren't around to explain, but I am.
I am not saying that there is no correlation between the prices on the open market and what gas prices are, but I am saying that the connection between the price of a barrel of crude and what it costs Exxon, ultimately, to deliver a gallon of their blended, semi-synthetic fuel mixture isn't even CLOSE to being directly related.
They keep this mentality in a perpetual state of renewal by peddling junk science and wrapping themselves in the flag, basically by doing what any good magician does; sliieght-of-hand.
Yes, it is a monopolist conspiracy, yes the other companies like BP and Chevron are in on it.
Since gasoline is a mixture of different compunds, you must understand what these compounds are in order to know;
a) where they come from
b) how they are produced
Most of them exist naturally in one way or another, but the COMBINING of the different fractions into the mixture that is commonly called 'gasoline' IS A SYNTHETIC process, called REFINING.
Many things fall under thr rubric of 'refining'.........
'cracking' a.k.a. 'catalytic cracking' aka cat cracking
'hydroforming'
'reforming'
'isomerization'
'Nucleophilic addition'
are just a few of the descriptive terms used to explain transformations of chemical compounds to fuel.
It is a tragic comedy for me, watching them do this to the entire world, watching them gleefully yank the wool over peoples eyes time and again, always dodging the bullet.....all you have to really do is LOOK at them, jee-zus, did they all hide their skull-and-crossbones rings at W's house or what?
.....anyway, the Germans werre developing ways to do syn fuels early last century, as they realized that they were vulnerable to naval blockade in wartime, and the processes have been extensively refined, re-refined, and perfected.
I ought to write a book on this, as these slimy bastards really deserve
someone on their ass that they can't bamboozle with terminology and lobby money.
Use your own common sense people, petroleum refining has been around for MANY decades and has been quietly polished and honed to a keen edge, with the best funding and planning existent, period.
They ARE doing what I am saying, and now you know.......

It reminds me a bit of what all the loonys are talking about with their "2012" storys = one day all the willingly adicted , junkies that have never experienced one single free decision in their whole lives will wake up one morning , atain enlightenment , free themselves and save the planet .
