Is there a difference in the high between San Pedro, Peruvian Torch, Peyote, and pure mescaline?

Assuming you had about the same amount of mescaline in each... :?:

I never had mescaline but the general opinion seems to be that Peyote differs greatly from other cacti or pure mescaline.

The difference is where pure mescalin is just mescalin and the peyote cactus also contains other alkaloids, so this is where the difference lies...

But the San Pedro and Peruvian Torch also contains ("non active") alkoloids, aren't they ?

Tiax a dit:

Yes but it seems the composition of certain alkaloids in Peyote is very specific. They are active in some way. But I really shouldnt reply here since I have no first hand experience on the matter:)

Brew could tell us firsthand. :)

I know peyote contains a lot synergizing alkaloids, which give another experience than other cacti.

Mescaline HCL is the purest mescaline experience ofcourse.

Pedro and Peruvian along with pretty much all other LEGAL cacti (for me) produce the same high. I've done fresh peyote once, a 14 year old button that I'd been caring for, and it was by far, the most visual mescaline trip I've ever had; comparable to my favorite lsd trip. I've done dried peyote at least 5 times and it's always felt just like a san pedro experience; very relaxed, cosmic, connected feeling. The fresh button was much more intense, closer to a mushroom trip because I wasn't able to think clearly, it was quite overwhelming but very enjoyable in the end.

I used to think that I had done pure mescaline; when I was younger, I used to buy micro-dots at shows all the time and was told that they were mesc. A couple years ago, I read on erowid about the "micro-dot myth", so I don't know what those things were, but DAMN they were fun!!

so would the difference between the fresh peyote and the other cacti be worth growing your own cactus for?

I think everyone should be growing peyotes (and trichs too), they're cool little buggers. The only thing about them is that they need to be at LEAST 7 years old, preferably 10-14, before they develope their full mescaline content. I only have 4 that are in the 10-14 year range and about 10 young ones, so I'm not really growing them to eat, they're more of a collector's item, so to speak.

Trichocereus cacti, on the other hand, can be eaten whenever you have at least a pound of fresh material; which is pretty convenient.

That was the first place I ever ordered a peyote from online, but I don't think they ship here anymore, because they won't return my emails. Haven't for several months now, and I've been trying to buy a few older ones as presents.... damn shame.

Check your PM's for a place that just sent me a couple last week. Bit more expensive unfortunately, but all arrived well.
