Hello all..I don't have much experience with BRF cakes, but I'm tryin' some right now. Last time I did these, they took a very long time for the mycellium to colonate..but this time they are goin' very quickly (it's only day 5). Well the reason I think the mycellium is growin' so fast is because I'm usin' a heatin' pad. And now here comes my question..I don't leave the heatin' pad on all the time because the jars seem to get pretty warm..but the verm and BRF seem to be dried up a lot. I'm not sure if this is natural..or if I have somethin' to worry about. If it is somethin' for me to worry about, is there anythin' I can do about it?? Last time I thought I used too much water in my mix, and this time I guess I used too little. Any help would be appreciated.

This is a photo of one:

I put a towel inbetween the pad and the jars. Is there possibly anythin' I can do now to add some moisture to the BRF?? I just put some water into two jars via a syringe..i don't know if i did more damage or not, that's why i only tested two of them. I'm gonna dunk them at birth for sure..if they get that far that is.

mycelium will die at about 103F degrees
optimal is 86F degrees.
