i have 3 friends that are planning to go to this church event tripping on mushrooms. its all of their first time sept one who tripped hard on 2.5 and luckily me and another friend were there watching him or his trip woukld of been alot worse. but now there planning to do this, i told them it was a really bad idea, but he thinks its gonna be fun and says hes gonna be the watcher cuz hes only taking 1 gram and the other 2 are taking 2 grams. so yeah what do you think?

Go for it. I'm a christian. If the church is any good the oppeness to spirituality that mushrooms gives you will bring you to a closer understanding of God.

Now the question is. Do you still want to? :D :D :D

its not me and the thing is these kids arent really into their christianity and there doing it for a fun time and its all there first experience to be in a public place

oh, wait a minute, what the hell lol. Every time I read that post it changes on me.

I was 100% sure when I read it it said "me and three friends"

Then when you said its not me i was like, wait, what?

I am going to try and read it one more friggen time and see if I can get it into my head what the actually linguistical expression is on the page.

OK. IF I can get this straight. There was this one guy that did it that would have had a bad trip if you werent watching him and now he wants to be a watcher on a three person trip of which its him and two others and the three of them want to do it at a church event but they arent into their church and its their first time in public.

If THATS whats being said then my thoughts are:

They are PROBABLY in a really safe place to do it and it PROBABLY will be moving spiritual experience for them. I really do believe psychedelics open up pathways to the spiritual world and so they are going to be much more open to their spiritual environment. With that having been said the question REALLY is is that the spirituality they want to expose themselves to? I guess my last comment was me kind of being a shmuck but in a biblical way lol. Its kinda rude to say "Go do a bunch of drugs and get closer to my God" lol but at the same time I believe that God uses everything to get us closer to him eventually so I think doing a bunch of drugs in church is just like asking for God to convert you lol. It was my way of saying "If your going to be stupid enough to do drugs in church dont be suprised if you walk out saved." lol. And in my opinion being that stupid in that way is a good thing! (Remember i got saved on LSD lol so mixing drugs and God is a very dangerous thing if you arent interested in finding out about him lol.)

Being more sober about it. At a practical level they are probably safe. At an emotional level and a spiritual and even a psychological level they will probably 'grow' from it but probably in a spiritual direction that aligns them more with a biblical understanding of Jesus. I mean what do psychedelics do. Make you think about everything in new and interesting ways. Spend 8 hours thinking about Jesus in new and intersting ways? All they need is one "OMG I CURED CANCER" moment and think about Jesus at the same time and its gunna be real hard to emotionally shake the idea that thinking about Jesus just feels good lol.

The 'worst' that would happen in my opinion would be more along the lines of what happens if the people at their church find out or something goes wrong and someone has to explain whats happening or God forbid quite literally they have a flipout moment in the middle of the sanctuary or whatever and someone calls an ambulance cuz they dont know how to talk em down.

These are all things they gotta weigh and I guess you gotta help em weigh. In my opinion doing drugs in church is a big plus but thats because I have a personal place in my heart for anyone who gets saved through psychedelic use hehe.

By the sounds of it these are young guys looking to have some laughs tripping as opposed to seeking a spiritual experience. No doubt there'll be parents and priests etc around who will harsh your mellow if the cotton on to the fact that they're tripping.

I think your mates are better off doing it where they can really let their hair down without upsetting the straight people.

If you ask me, The words Holy Communion come to mind....

It is my honest belief that some form of psychoactive mushroom was the original breaking of bread, brining on a very personal connection to the devine force or delivering Holy Communion. One piece of text stands out here, "Man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord". This passage is from the old testament, the book of deuteronomy but is also repeated in the new testament in both Luke and Matthew.

Also there is a passage in the gospel of Thomas that stands out greatly to me regarding the consumation of something Jesus had prepared.
The gospel of Thomas
Vs 13) Jesus said to His disciples, "Compare me to someone and tell
Me whom I am like."
Simon Peter said to Him, "You are like a righteous angel."
Matthew said to Him, "You are like a wise philosopher."
Thomas said to Him, "Master, my mouth is wholly incapable of
saying whom You are like."
Jesus said, "I am not your master. Because you have drunk,
you have become intoxicated by the bubbling spring which I have
measured out."
And He took him and withdrew and told him three things. When
Thomas returned to his companions, they asked him, "What did
Jesus say to you?"
Thomas said to them, "If I tell you one of the things which
he told me, you will pick up stones and throw them at me; a fire
will come out of the stones and burn you up."

Another interesting thing to research would be the works of John M. Allegro - The Sacred Mushroom and The Cross. Commissioned to research the dead sea scrolls for the Vatican, After alot of research declared Jesus was a mushroom. Whether Jesus was a mushroom or a type of shaman its worth a look.

I honestly think that the energy in a church will throw thier trip in a religious way and if they are seen to be acting strange (Especially if you live in America) You may get to see an attempt at exorcism and your friends might end up mentally traumatised by thier experience.

So maybe the question is are your friends ready for this experience?

P.S. What kind of church are you talking about?

These are good points as well though I dont buy the whole Gospel of Thomas thing but thats just me. Gospel of Thomas has too many holes in that dont correlate with the rest of scripture that clearly shows its not apart of the same 'vein'. Treat it as a seperate concept or piece of iteresting information sure but I really dont think it should be classified under 'scripture'. The bible was defined by specific people for a specific reason under specific direction and to try and change it is like trying to tell someone that their beliefs are wrong and that they really should believe something else because thats what they really meant to believe in the first place and I dont think thats right.

With that having been said. What kind of church it is does make a point and it could influence how its responded to. Too zealous and into the more 'loud' gifts like tongues and prophecy and yeah they might get the exorcism style thing though exorcisms are usually a cathlic thing I think. Though I could see a bunch of Christians going over board and trying to pray out the demons but then I think that WOULD pray out any demons and only leave the true form of the psychedelic piece behind of which I would hope those praying them out would see there is a chemical experience going on and its not entirely spirtual and if they were smart they would sit them down in a corner somewhere and just sit with them and talk with them while they worked it out in their head.

Guess part of this is dependant on how mature and healthy the church is. As much as I rant against it so much sometimes I forget that so many churches are out there broken that this could be a church thats more cultish then spiritual and they could have a really bad reaction to it even if no one tells them and they dont figure out its from shrooms.

Btw like I said I think all psychedelics do open yourself up to the spiritual world so that IS going to welcome in demons and the like but typically I trust God to work on that and use that to whatever end he sees fit. Dont like running around telling everyone into psychedelics they are going to be attacked by demons. I think thats part and parcel to the experience and can be beneficial at times. (Though I felt bad for the one woman I met that said the first time they did LSD they found them selves in a pit of boiling lava with hundreds of demonic agents clawing at her. I dont think that actually happened (I mean she experienced but it wasnt like she was actually taken to hell) but I could totally see a demon implanting that in her mind to scare her away from the psychedelics and it did so I feel bad that happened but it can.)

I dont think I referred to the gospel of Thomas as scripture and neither do I.

The funny thing is tho, the bible was compiled by certain people for certain monarchs at various times to suit the needs of thier lives. For example, "King Henry the VIII established the Church of England in 1534 when parliament declared that the king was the supreme head of the church. He wanted to establish it because he wanted a divorce but the pope wouldn't grant it but if he was the head of the church he could grant it himself, he was also bankrupt and wanted to take the monasteries, gold and various other riches for himself."(Extract from Wiki answers)

All that changes in the bible is the translation and wording. Controlled religion is a tool of mass control, Thats why the catholics chased the gnostics into hiding and killed them in the most gruesome ways when they caught them. Who is to say what translation is right? Personally Im more of a gnostic and feel if Jesus was here spreading a message I sure doubt it has been passed on in full by controlled religion.

Sticki a dit:

Ahh my bad. Dang it thats twice ive halucinated what someone said about something biblical that wasnt there. I'm starting to worry about myself a little and think I will use this as a moment to put a safety checkpoint in place.

Yeah. When I talk about scripture and a biblical understanding of "God" i talk about three spheres. The core central sphere is all "Truth" contained within the bible. Now the definition of bible in this case is what I believe is the complete and total as originally intended works of the the original writers. I believe that the cannonized bible and the books chosen for it was God inspired to create the bible though I think that Christians VERY frequently misintepret it or give it too much weight in influencing their lives. This leads to the second sphere.

The second sphere which is encompased around the first sphere is what I call the grey area. That is everything that is outside the first sphere but inside the second sphere is all knowledge of God that is not contained within the bible but yet does not contradict it. A little funny example that I like to use is: "Did Jesus go to the bathroom?" Nowhere in scripture does it even remotely hint that Jesus had any bodily functions of any kind yet scripture is very clear in saying that he was 'fully human'. To be fully human you have to fart and crap and pee and so forth, body odor, etc. Yet none of this is written in the bible yet there are Christians that fight tooth and nail that if its not in the bible its not true.

Even in defining what is in the first sphere all scripture mentioned in this text I am writing as "Truth" must be taken into account when intepreting all other "Truth". This of course is impossibly by a human mind. We cannot contain in our heads some however many thousands of pages of text perfectly and correlate them all to each other completely and simultaneously. Yet that is what is required to truly interpret the bible correctly.

What really happens is all Christians everywhere (myself included) take pieces of the bible out of context and then use it to suit their views. The question responses to this however are things such: "Is this piece out of context better then that piece?" "If I put this piece back into context how does it change?" "If I compare these two different pieces what do I get out of looking at what I am thinking about from both perspectives simultaneously.

The scriptures that I think Christians often forget about or dont want to admit are in their bible are ones like:

"All things are permitted but not all things are good for you."

This was written to a church that was specifically fighting about what was or wasnt biblical or allowed within the faith and the apostle to the church said directly. Everything is allowed under the freedom of Christ the question is whether or not its good for you to do it.

Good for you to do it becomes essentially defined as does God want you to do it.

This leads into the understanding of the scripture of meat sacrificed before idols.

That scripture in its paraphrased form pretty much says that its perfectly fine to do things that others THINK are unbiblical provided they do not violate scripture AND you are not causing someone who believes they are unbiblical to stumble. In this case the stumbling would be to judge you. Yet still that scripture also references another scripture which basically says that if someone doesnt understand why what you are doing is biblical and they think it isnt its your responsability to come alongside them and lovingly help them see how what you believe is perfectly allowable.

This all having been said there are LOTS of misinterpretations of scripture by lots of churches to greater or lesser degrees and the ones that get the most air time are the ones that I think drill the holes in peoples heads that make them practically vomit sometimes at the mention of words such as Jesus or Christ or even God sometimes.

For example I believe from my meta understanding of scripture (extrapolation of a deep nature after extensive study and revelation) that any act done in TRUE LOVE is perimted. Its easily seen how all things are permitted but not all things are good for you apply to that but add to that the fact that God=Love and any act that is truly done in Love is ordained by God.

As such I feel that True Love can be between any two human beings and that can be between many human beings to greater or lesser degrees. Though scripture talks about being married and so forth and bonding to an individual mate it is not part of the boiled down commandment nature of "Love God and Love everybody else". Communal love is what God has intended for all of us and in fact is what is defined as the nature of heaven in eternity. (bible even says there will be no earthly concept of marriage in heaven because effectively we will all be married to each other in heaven via being married to Christ.)

So babble babble babble. Mixing tons of psychedelics with biblical discussions and you can get a really deep and personal understanding of both scripture and God. Or you can be staring at your bible pages and watching the words turn into worms and crawl across the page. (Done that too lol.)

EDIT. After reading this over I realized I forgot to mention the third sphere which is outside the other two and that is the black sphere where by these are the things that violate scripture and are not in the definition of "God" and "Truth". Its our destiny in life, each of us to explore all three spheres and find within them which parts of each are going to be a part of our lives and where we wish to reside in them or in pieces of each and so forth. I believe that true enlightenment, that is the lifting of the last veil is an awareness of all three spheres and ultimately a true full awakening awareness of God and Reality.

its all of their first time sept one who tripped hard on 2.5 and luckily me and another friend were there watching him or his trip woukld of been alot worse.

Bad idea.

1) Shrooms are illegal in Canada (right?)
2) 2.5 is a relative low dose. Potency within the same strain can vary by a factor of 5. You wouldn't want someone who almost freaked out the first time, be in a church freaking out on twice the potency.

I am not saying that a church is a bad environment for such an experience. Au contrary as evidenced by the good friday experiment. But your setting is wildly different from that because nobody in the church will be aware that you guys are tripping and won't have tolerance for it I suspect.

I'm probably way too chaotic for my own good. Ive been lookin at life so wierd for so long I often miss 'obvios' things or dont know what questions to ask or what not. I'd take their advice. A flipout moment could be a REAL mess in many ways. Maybe even involve the church pushing for rehab or something or doing drug tests or what not.

If they still decide to go, I strongly advice that everyone in your group stay at the back of the Church, near the exit.

That way, most of the people will have their backs on you (less paranoia for you, aka no "This guy is looking at me. Damnit, I' sure he knows we're trippin'").

Also, you'll be able to leave quickly and discretely if one of you begins to freak out.

Good point on both accounts.

I wish these people would come back and post what happened.

so many people filter through here with really shitty ideas "should I do this?"

fuck no! fucking hell no, what the fuck? no.

Never post again... never get to see the outcome .

You mean I shouldnt ask whether or not I should smoke a pound of weed, eat a pound of shrooms, and drop a bottle of acid all at once? (Sorry out of mescaline).

:D

IJC there is probably 1 of 2 reasons for this, Either....

They dont like being told no and make the assumption we are all boring goody goody people. Which could only mean they are very immature and cant see what we are truelly saying and probably only came here to get approval off strangers becuase thier social friends rejected the idea.

OR

They went ahead with thier plan regardless of advice and they are now suffering the consequences of thier actions?

Well there is always the possiblity that they did it, were fine, had a lot of fun and just being 'rude' by not following up. Ive been on many forums where I got actually flamed at for being too vocal about every little thing that I did relating to the forum. This forums a little different in that it expects 'involvement' right off the back.

Sometimes we're kind of like "Make your fat asses a part of our community NOW dammit!" lol. :D :D

I would like to think the 3rd is the most common outcome, However I doubt it. Hence why I said probably

If you join a forum, Is it not usually to participate and share experiences and information as well as learn from others?
The good thing about the forum is no one can see your goofy teeth, funny hair, weird dress sense or hear your stutter, Not even see your facial expressions change as you process posts, info and some times abuse

These small things can alter some peoples perception very quickly and by them not being a physical barrier the only thing holding any one back is lack of access to a PC and the internet and bad spelling. However some members would spend the time trying to decipher what another member meant

sorry i didnt post what happened, lol. they ended up having a fun time, they said a security guard knew they were tripping on mushrooms but he didn't really do anything just kept an eye on them.

well lucky them! and shwanke, you're too good :P
