How long after taking an antibiotic for chlamydia should it take for the antibiotics to work? About 2 1/2 weeks ago, I went to the gynocologist for my annual check-up. A week later , I received a phone call from the nurse stating that according to my pap smear, I had chlamydia, that obviously I contracted from my now EX- fiancee. I wasa given an antibiotic called azithromycin. I took it for 2 days. The nurse told me if I thought I might still have it, to return for a repeat pap in a month. I have made an appointment for December, but I wanted to know. How long does it normally take the antibiotics to work and how long should one wait before returning to the doctor for a repeat pap?
