im hoping to get some good feedback on this. my friends lack the interest and generally just look at me weird when I bring it up.

I use it get really worried about the world running out of fuels, fuels that powerd cars, trucks and planes. I use to talk about it to ease my concern but that kinda made it worse so I started to research for more facts.

with oil being our main source it started to dawn upon me that there wasn't another large enough substance that could replace oil, gas wouldn't do it and hydrogen was more of an abundant element in space unless you start to split water.

however it wasn't until I researched nuclear fuel, fission, fusion and atom smashing. I looked at that as something that we still had high
hopes for and could use electricity to run automobiles.
of course battery technology still has a long way to go and for finding a highly flammable source for aircrafts im not sure about that.

that does leave all the pressure on nuclear reactors but that's why I posted, what are your views and thoughts, discoverd any new technology or just wish to disagree.

I did a search before posting a new thread but not under cold fusion. but I think ill talk about cold fusion aswell.

So what exactly is your question now? It is very true that we have an energy problem. But I think the upcoming energy crisis is somehow even more a chance for rebirth of mankind. What I rather fear, to be honest, is that we finde an energy source that provides us with an infinite amount of energy.

I don't have an exact question its more about obtaining other peoples view.

im interested that's all.

why do you fear an abundant source of energy?

If we could find a way to use nuclear fusion, then we wouldnt have to worry. No chance of running out of the fuel for that, hyrdogen is the most abundant element in the universe and the only waste is helium.

But apparently scientist wont have to technology for sustained fusion for about 80years, so thats something that we probably wont get to benefit from.

never fear cockknocker Im here,

ill have fusion up and running in no time,

just relax...

why do you fear an abundant source of energy?
because I fear that the world will go crazy. This will be the free ticket to leash-less megalomania, bigger, better, you get it.

What should be done is NASA should make some sort of space-windmill and get energy from the solar winds which come from the sun. I saw on a program called The Universe that solar winds were a possible method of inter-stellar travel, so it could work.

Useing solar winds to push a sail on a spaceship is practicable but windmills in space ?????

The input / output energy ratios make it a not workable idea .

Ethanol has always been a healthy alternative, not made from corn of course, but from cellolosic waste matter...

The bacteria that digests the cellulose and makes ethanol has been known for 20 years... but our dear friends *cough* SHELL brought the patent to it and are obviously DELAYING it. Anyways its still there.

Ethanol works straight in most cars, some need minor modifications. Right now they sell gas with ethanol mixed in... but its stupid AND ridiculous (I put it in my car because it gives it more power) because it costs more gaz and energy in machinery and to produce the ethanol from corn that it saves... apart from that it would be a cleaner fuel...

Say you have your own field of potatoes and make your own from that, that would be VERY profitable, and you could be self-sustainable.

Some cars right now work from hydrogen on demand (electrolysis) ; sadly it takes all the place in your trunk, but you car is still running on water (yes it works, yes its been tested, only downside is it often costs 10 thousands to install) !

There is no energy crisis really... I found an article in the 60 from wall street journal where a scientist proved that petrol reserves refill itself after about 10 years... more petrol gets "squirted" from the earth "veins" ; its been proven, explained and peer reviewed, so if we combine fuels to save a little on it we'll never run out (not that its the best fuel anyways, so we better leave earth her "blood" and find something else)

It's all a big lie.

oh yeah and theres this new australian titanium allow which splits hydrogen and oxygen from water on exposure to sunlight...

and it works INCREDIBLY effisciently. Sorry Restin, but your fears are kind of already in the works...

There is Nanosolar, which lowers the price of solar panels so much its almost a joke...

Bio energy is great but it's at the cost of food production. And a car eats more joules than the person driving it.

As for solar energy: it could have been changed in meantime but a surface of plants captures more energy than the same surface in solar panels.

I think the answer lies in nuclear fusion. Nucleon interaction holds soo much energy in such a tiny space it's amazing. The technology is already up and working but it needs finetuning as currently the amount of energy the reactor requires for sustenance is larger than the output. Mostly due to heat loss.

@cockknocker: the actual resource for fusion is lithium which is converted to tritium. Which could mean there would still be mining...

You have not checked the websites, or even read my message completely...

Is it me , or everyone does this to me lately ?

The technology for biofuel USES WASTE MATTER, we eat the corn, the biofuel plant uses the leaves and the stalk. You can even make brown's gaz (hydrogen oxygen mix) from sewage... the technology is there and being marketted by very serious companies.

The NEW solar panels are 10 times more effiscient at capturing light, and they are thin and flexible like cardboard, you can roll and stick them on your roof yourself !

i truly believe that if we want to find a sustainable way get energy we need to look at the only thing that's been able to do just that.

hello... our green friends
natures computers
they're the shit were trying to be
whether you're religious or not
whoever put all this shit here did a DAMN good job
remember earthships?

were running off black goo that used to be dead dinosaurs
there's gotta be a better way

humans need to go with the flow like the rest of the planet

the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man."

Ah, I can't seem to find the original article... but thats one thing you can expect not to find much information on...

In a world where water is more expensive than gas, but people still complain about its price...

Some interesting reading... I'm sure proof could be found in some instances, but I don't need proof for myself. I have seen intimately how petrol is Earth's "blood" ; the "gunk" thats dissolved in it and that they remove and burn to make the gaz has probably tons of medicinal extractables in it as well, thats a subject I would like to dig upon further in the near future.

I have eaten some mineral pitch called Shijalit from india and noticed that it was exeptionally nutritious, made me ery energetic and all... fulvic acids, alkaloids... minerals... special and unique reaction acids made in the hot core of the earth.

alternative fuels, also known as non-conventional or advanced fuels, are any materials or substances that can be used as fuels, other than conventional fuels. conventional fuels include: fossil fuels, coal, propane, and natural gas and nuclear materials such as uranium.
